I booked a superior room via the marriott site, on arrival it was clear from the three staff checking our booking that something was wrong. We were checked in and given the key to our room. We went up in the lift and then had to lift our cases up about four steps and when we entered the room it wasn't a superior room ( this was our forth AC Marriott this we had stayed in on this trip). The reason I had booked the superior was to ensure that we had a bath and shower, there was only a shower in this room and we were staying for three nights. I went back down to reception to discuss and they stated thats all we have we are fully booked. I advised tnat tney accepted my booking over a month ago if they didn't have a superipr room then they should not have accepted the booking and asked them to provide us with the room we had booked. They asked ,e to go and wait in the lounge area while they checked. A couple of minutes later the reception male staff member came to me and advised sorry we don't have anything else only that room. I advised that I wasn' t satisfied and asked to see the manager. I was then advised quite abruptly that the manager wasn' t available. I advised i woud wait in tne lounge until the manager was availabe.
My hubby wanted me to give up at that point and seek a refund for the different level of room they had given us. Well I just don't like being treated badly and so I went back to reception, tne male staff member was there and I asked if the manager was available, he snapped "wait a moment". Really very rude - I wondered if he would appreciate it if I used the same tone and manner. - I don' t think so. Well the female that gave us the key to the room appeared in response to my request to see the manager asking me what it was that I wanted. I thought she must be the manager and I advised that I would like a superipr room with a bath and shower as I had booked and paid in advance.
The female then advised me that they had a jnr suite and Asked one of tne male staff to show me the room, the room was VG and i accepted the room and enquired if there would be a further charge and was advised no.
The bed was very hard, the small lounge was VG and the bathroom and toiletries were VG. Plus the complimentary mini bar with soft drinks is really great after a hot walking day around Seville. It is a short taxi ride which is usually only 5 to 6 euros one driver charged 12. Most drivers talked about the Spanish economy so we thought maybe the guy that charged 12 hadn't been very lucky that day. Lots of taxi's waiting for customers and horse drawn carriages.
This really spoilt our overall stay in Seville. After staying in other AC's that were really nice even the upgrade didn't change our view after we had been treated so rudely.
