We stayed at the Catalonia Giralda Hotel for a total of three nights in October 2011. The hotel's real undoing is that it is rated as a 4-star hotel; if it were 3-star and charged 3-star prices we would probably have walked away fairly satisfied, although a couple of our concerns would still have been valid.

Our rooms were fairly noisy, with the windows failing to block out the traffic noise - particularly in one room where the windows didn't actually close properly. I also had to take my life in my hands and climb on a table then lean out of a large 3rd floor window to pull the shutter down after it wouldn't close normally.

Generally the rooms are not too small but a little dated. The walls were very thin so we could hear what our neighbours were watching on TV and parts of their conversations.

One of our rooms (319) had a terrible stench emanating from the bathroom (not guilty!) that wafted through the rest of the room whenever we opened the bathroom door. We mentioned this to the hotel who assured us that they will look into it.

The internet in the lobby is truly terrible, so use the free and quick WiFi if you can.

On the positive side, the hotel is quite well located (10 min walk from the cathedral), the staff were friendly, the lobby is really impressive, and there is a nice cafe area. We didn't try the breakfast, although it was advertised on-site as 3 euros cheaper than online.

In summary, this is a 3-star hotel; don't expect 4-stars on the basis of the grand lobby.

The bathroom wasn't clean and there were ants in the hotel. The wireless password wasn't in the room and they wouldn't give it over the phone so I had to go downstairs, wait in line and go back upstairs just to use the internet. I could handle these things in a youth hostel, but this costs ten times as much... You'd think they could at least clean the hairballs out of the shower.

This Hotel we had two nights in, very nice pleasant on reception which makes a change, and the bedrooms were nice and clean and comfortable beds, Very Handy for walking to the Plaza Espania and to the Bull ring, Had a lovely two days in Seville, could have stayed another two days.

Well, where does one begin? This is the worst hotel I have ever been in. The wifi is unreliable. There is no mini bar or even a fridge! No ice maker. Asking anyone for ice is like pulling teeth, if you are lucky, they may give you 4 cubes. Rooms are ugly. Bathroom tiles are mouldy and are coming off the wall. Toilet didn't work, room was not serviced until 5 pm. Breakfast bland and unappealing. Service is terrible. Seriously bad - only marginally better than sleeping on the street.
