“Still wonderful, but slipped just a little”

Las Casas de la Juderia is a wonderful complex of old houses in the old town of Seville. It is well located for most attractions in Seville. The patios and gardens are relaxing an beautiful (even in winter when we visited). We had a standard double and a superior room in the main complex during the 3 kings holiday period in early January.

This was my second visit (the first was a few years ago). Overall the staff are still fabulous - helpful, friendly and accomodating. The complex is great (although if you are visiting for the first time it may take you a couple of trips to reception before you are confident navigating your way around). Since my last visit, I felt the attention to detail in the rooms has slipped a fraction. I had a few minor maintenance issues - several blown globes and the (very small) television seemed to have lost several channels. Neither mattered enough to contact reception. Also, the cleaning was a little hit and miss (e.g. on arrival a row of half a dozen used shampoo and conditioner containers along the ledge in the excellent shower, bins not emptied one day, etc.). Nothing major - it had just slipped a little since my last visit.

Overall, the quirky rambling nature of the place, it's lovely patios and the great location make this is still one of my favourite places to stay - but attention to detail in the rooms needs to improve a little to restore it to the top rank.

Room Tip: We found the superior room wasn't actually that much better than the excellent standard double r...

“Excellent location, hotel and services”

It's probably all been said but I couldn't fault this hotel. The rooms had great character and the hotel is designed like a little village. Despite criticisms I've read about getting lost in the hotel, it adds to the character of the place and it doesn't take long to remember the way to your room. We asked for ice one evening and another afternoon we needed an iron and we received them within minutes. Breakfast was delicious - lots of great fresh fruit, rye bread (for the wheat intolerant) and other breads, lovely cold meats and smoked salmon as well as hot breakfast options including a variety of egg dishes, bacon, baked beans. If you want a quiet read over a glass of wine, the bar is perfect but livelier venues are closeby. Easy reach of the cathedral and the Alcazar. Would definitely stay there again. I booked through Expedia (Iberia flights from Heathrow and hotel). Checkout is at 12 noon which is pretty reasonable.

“old, not clean, unconfortable, expensive”

we where there at the end of january, it was cold, and i imagine in sevilla they are not used to cold temperatures. the first rooms they gave us, where noisy, unconfortable, dirty and very cold. we asked to change the rooms the next morning, and the rooms they gave us where even worse, but not noisy. old beds, old furniture, not clean at all... absolutely not worth the price! the worse possible hotel we had in andalusia! don't go there! good position, but very difficult to find...

It was my first time ever in the city of Sevilla and this hotel made the stay a thousand times better, just getting to your room is a bit of an adventure. You feel like you have been transported back in time to the 16th century. Once you get to y your room it is very plush, my only gripe is that the beds were a bit small but that is normal for me (I am 6'8, so its recurring issue) but other than that the room is nice. They give you a cool box which contains anything toiletries related that you left at home. Breakfast, now the guidebooks I had read said this was the most wonderful buffet breakfast in the area. I tend to agree with them but my travel partner did not agree with them but we all can't agree on everything. The piano bar is very cool you feel like your in the middle of a lounge in The Casbah. Pianist was very talented, drinks were fairly priced, and the help was quite attentive. I had a great time in Seville and this hotel made it so much better.

“Great location, genuine hotel. Memorable stay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

If you want a local hotel, there is no better one in Sevilla. All really positive. Only con would be the noise as being old houses you can hear the water running from the rooms nearby. Still very worth it and recommended!!!
