Firstly the good news. The reception ladies were fantastic and very helpful, and the hotel is located right in the heart of the old City which was great for ambling around.
I knew that the room (room 3 I think on the ground floor by reception) was going to be small but it was very small. However given the location and the fact that we were there only for one night, it was probably acceptable. The downside was the noise. We had the air conditioner with fan going full blast to drown the noise of the comings and goings of other guests. This led to minimal sleep. Also, the room smelled strongly of disinfectant ...
On balance, if I were to travel there again, I would probably stay in the hotel but avoid the rooms at the bottom

We spent a couple of days in Seville and it was kind of difficult to choose a hotel, the most are old and sloppy, but finally our choice was one of the best we could have made.
Ideally located, very clean, cosy and charming, friendly staff, all this together convinced us to highly recommend it.

A friend and I spent one night at Un Patio al Sur. I was disappointed--our room was tiny (and we're New Yorkers, so we're used to close quarters). It was way overpriced for what it was. It was room #2, I think--to the left as you pass reception. Its only window looked out on the reception area, not to the outside, and the room smelled overwhelmingly of Lysol or something similar. The bathroom was also miniscule and the shower didn't drain properly. It was fine for us--we had to leave at 4:30 am to catch our flight the next day, so we had a late dinner and only returned to the hotel to pack. We spent a total of maybe 2 hours in our room. I wouldn't recommend this hotel and would advise staying away from room 2.

I stayed here for 5 nights and was very happy with it. The hotel is on a small, narrow, mostly quiet street. I had room 7 on the first floor, with two balconies looking onto the street. You can step out onto one of them (the other is enclosed like so many in this part of Spain). There is also a charming rooftop terrace - though they lock it at 1130pm, which I thought was a pity, but it was to protect those in the rooms beneath from noise.

The reason this hotel is only 2 star is that it does not have a restaurant or a swimming pool or those sort of facilities. But you don't need a restaurant with so many fabulous cafes and bars within about 2 minutes walk.

Room 7 was a very large room, light, airy and spacious. I enjoyed being able to open the huge french windows, because I like the natural light and the sun (though these are regarded as the enemy in the summer!). The doors are double-glazed and there are also large wooden shutters: when these were closed the soundproofing was very good. the aircon was very effective. However directly opposite there is a small bar (very close, you could almost reach across and touch it) whose television was blaring very loudly during the afternoon and early evening: this could be a disturbance to some people even with the doors and shutters closed. It was not a problem at night.

Most of the other rooms seem to face inwards onto the hotel's interior patio and these would certainly be quiet. It all has a bright, clean feel and is all painted white with lots of flowers (there were fresh flowers in the room, a nice touch).

There are 5 rooms on the ground floor. Some reviewers have complained that these were noisy - they seemed OK to me. It's true that people's footsteps can be magnified a bit on the polished marble floor. The reviewers below who left because of noise were probably in Room 1, which is right by reception (such as it is - reception is hardly more than a little shelf with a laptop) and which looks onto the street by the entrance. Yes the council do come and hose down the street and collect rubbish at 1am - but what do you expect in a place like Seville in the summer!

I was joined for part of the time by a friend who was in Room 5 - this is on the ground floor but has its own private little patio, a pleasant if slightly airless space to sit and have a drink.

The hotel is not in the absolutely most beautiful historic part of Seville but it is not at all far from the places of interest - even in the heat you can walk to the Cathedral in about 15 minutes. The fine arts museum is very close, as is the El Corte Ingles department store/supermarket. Wonderful tapas bar "El Patio" just along the street from the hotel.

The receptionists were efficient and friendly and said hello and goodbye as you came in and out.

There is free wifi which worked perfectly in the rooms: it even has a separate wifi transmitter for each of the 3 floors so the signal was excellent.

Niggles: silly bathroom sink, like so many places, into which you can put hardly any water before it slops over the sides, no good if you want to wash your face. And the foyer, and to a lesser extent the room, smelled very strongly of air freshener which gave me a bit of a headache. It was fine once I had opened the windows.

I would be pleased to stay here again and would recommend it to friends.
