We went to Sevilla for a 3 nights stay during Semana Santa. Luckily we booked the Catedral Hotel early and got an excellent rate. A month later we would have had to pay top dollar. Even if we had to do this, it would have been worth it.
The hotel is right across from the Catedral. From their roof top terraces you can get some great photos of the Catedral.
We lucked out that we were given a balcony room looking out onto one of the streets where the processions passed. So we were able to sit comfortably on our balcony, have some tapas and drinks, and watch the processsions. What an experience!! If you haven't been, get to Sevilla during Holy Week.
The room we had was adequate in size, with an upscale motif. You will find the same throughout the hotel -from the front desk, to the restaurants, and the golden public bathroom. Make sure you go down and see it. Very different.
Breakfast was included, and it was excellent - from the service, to the selections, to the quality of the food.
Right across the street you will find excellent restaurants, bars to go for tapas.

After spending a great deal of time looking we decided to book the Ostia Antica that is part of the Hotel EME
A lovely young lady at reception took my booking and said she would ensure that as it was a special occassion the night whould be made one to remember-and boy was she right!
We arrived at 21:00 and were greeted by a young man who proved to be the only thing worth mentioning about this place, He showed us to our pre booked table
Our order was taken by a female member of sfaff who appeared to require glasses "using prity good Spanish a company at the table the first hour past quickly and eventually four of the six starters arrived,
We waited for the remainder and one more turnned up , the "young man" was informed that it was not what had been orderd and he called the lady that had taken the order over, she insisted it was correct, and when we chalenged her about the one starter that had still not arrived she insisted it was never ordered by us
As we were by now ready to eat any passing pets we requested the remaining starters to be cancelled and could we please have our main course`s
After another 15min the "young man" informed us the chef on duty was not cappable of cooking Steaks and a chef from up the road was on his way down to assist!
Another 30mins passed before the food arrived FREEZING COLD, I informed the "young man" and he offerd to reheat the meals- I asked to speak to the manager
Another 20mins passed and with no sign the manager, we informed the "young man" we were willing to pay only for our drinks and we walked, it was now 23:15 -LOOK OUT PETS

We read a review in Frommers that suggested this was a stellar choice for a stay in Sevilla. I can't believe the reviewer stayed at the same hotel we did. We booked a grand deluxe room, which looked great on their website. We checked in at a cramped desk area at this "boutique" hotel and were shown to a room that had a dark, depressing "view" of a wall, stairway, and hotel service equipment. We immediately asked to see another room, and were told the hotel was fully booked and there were no more rooms in our category. The rooms manager tried to help by giving us a smaller room that had a view on the first floor. We took it because we had no other choice. The room had a platform bed near a window that was inadequately "soundproof". The excellent location, near the cathedral, means throngs of noisy crowds, clip clopping horses (very picturesque, but not when you want to sleep) and hourly bell ringing from the bell tower. We travel a lot, and I should have taken the location in to consideration. The other aspects of the hotel were no better--a dark and poorly set up breakfast/bar area, small elevator that went out of service twice while we were there, etc. Sevilla is a magnificent city--we would have enjoyed it so much more if we had slept well.

We stopped on the terrace for a drink and couldn't have been more impressed with the view or service or atmosphere. The prices are really high compared to the rest of the city, so we recommend stopping for one drink and moving on.
