“Clean, spacious, fantastic value”

I stayed in Hotel Las Almenas for a short break last week with my girlfriend. We spent a little bit extra on a deluxe room with terrace and ended up paying 81 EUR per night (room only, booking through Venere.com). The room was extremely spacious by any standards and certainly much bigger than anything I've seen in that price range before. There was also enough closet space which is rare in itself. It has all the usual amenities, the one exception being a notable lack of coffee making facilities in the room. I'm not sure if this is available on request (we never got round to asking).

As for the rest, everything was just prefect. Excellent location, very central and walking distance to just about anything you might want to see in Granada. Inside, the bed was great, there were comfy chairs in the room, the linen was soft and clean, the bathroom had a bath with bubble and jet features and a shower (in the bath, but not as cramped as these usually are and with very minimal spillage thanks to a solid glass divider), and there just wasn't anything that you could complain about. We had good Wifi signal in our room (107) and used the internet a few times without any issues, although the manager did indicate that it was better in the lobby than in the rooms, so I'm guessing that signal might be a problem on some of the higher floors.

But what really impressed me was the combination of cleanliness and thoughtfulness, both in design and management.

Firstly, the cleanliness. Hotel Las Almenas is immaculate. I would happily slurp my coffee of the floor. Every crevice and corner is dust free and this immediately makes you feel like a king. The bed linen, the floor, the insides of drawers, the ceiling corners, behind the toilet (I checked). All spotless. Whoever is cleaning the place deserves a big tip, although I'm ashamed to say I forgot to leave one!

Secondly, thoughtfulness. There are little design touches in the room's furnishings and the layout of the hotel that really shows someone was thinking when they designed it. Like conveniently located plugs that you can reach without having to crouch or move anything. That's just one example and I could go on, but don't want to make this too long. And the same applies to the management. It's clear from the moment that you arrive that the management care. They care about your experience at their hotel and about making your stay in Granada as pleasant as possible. They were always very helpful and friendly and their recommendations on transport and restaurants were spot on. They were never intrusive or obnoxious and provided good, friendly advice and clear answers when asked and for the rest were simply efficient.

I had a great experience at this hotel and cannot recommend it more highly. If you're going to stay in Granada, look no further.

Room Tip: If Wifi is important to you, ask for a room on one of the lower floors.

Nothing can beat the value of this great hotel. Room was comfortable and very clean. Owner was the most friendly receptionist I have ever met. He showed us all the places we wanted to go on the map and told us how to get there by when. The hotel was in good location. Highly recommend to stay at Las Almenas when visit Seville.

“Very good price, OK room.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

We had some small issues with the room (they didn't put towels for us after cleaning the room, and the door key stopped working on our 2nd day), but apart from that, it was very good value for the money. The location is very good too.

“Great stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

My husband and I stayed at Las Almenas hotel for 3 nights and we enjoyed it very much. The hotel is located close to all main attractions in Granada. Walking distance to many shops, restaurants and tourists points. Jose at the front desk couldn't be more welcoming and helpfull to my husband and I, very sweet man. He showed us maps and gave us advice what to see and do in Granada. The hotel looked like it had just been restored so everything seemed nice, clean and new. Our room was mid sized with a cute litle balcony facing the side street and it was really quiet as well so we a great quality sleep. The room was turned over everyday. The bed was very comfortable. There is a cute patio with a few tables where we had breakfast every morning, but it is not included in the price of the room, however the prices were really affordable and the service was great. There is free wifi which was great, however the wifi was non-existing in our room unfortunately. We had to hang out in the beautiful and cozy sitting area of the hotel wich wasn't bad, but it would be nice to be able to surf online in the comfort of our room. Overall this little hotel was a great stay and I would recommend it.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room away from the main street.

“Very pleasant hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

Stayed here for four nights and enjoyed a very pleasant stay at the Las Almenas. The room was small but comfortable with French window (though the bed was too close to it to open it fully). The older gentleman at the reception was very friendly and helpful, showing me places of interest on the map and advising on best places to go, what buses to catch and looking after my suitcase. I arrived well before check-in but was able to leave my case there and have a quick drink in the small bar next door - which is part of the hotel. There were no English-language channels on the television, but I wasn't in Granada to watch TV, so it didn't really matter. Decent and pretty quiet air-con, clean bathroom.

The hotel is in a good location on Acera del Darro, allowing you to walk along the nice tree-line riverside area, and up the street to the lovely fountain and Puerta Real. You can then wander into the smaller city streets and see the magnificent cathedral (where in the evening if you're lucky you will be entertained by a good busker as crowds gather to listen and sit on steps for a free concert and some Spanish guitar!), Bib Rambla (great for a relaxing drink and tapas), and the leafy Plaza de la Trinidad (where the noisiest birds gather at dusk and make an impressive cacauphony!). Plaza Neuva further up is nice too and of course the Albayzin is unmissable and a great place to stop at a teteria for an exotic cuppa! Of course, the reason for coming to Granada is the Alhambra and it is walkable in about 20-25 minutes if you don't mind the hill, or you can catch a bus. It is wonderful but you need to go to the Mirador St Nicholas to get the quintessential view. Get there early if you want to grab a good spot to photograph the atmospheric dusk shot!

Back to the hotel - lovely decor inside the main atrium and it has a pleasant little restaurant though i didn't eat at it. The hotel is close to lots of bars and restaurants and really offers great value for money in my opinion. You'll see it is ranked highly amongst the hotels in the city and I could see why - if you want a decent, comfortable hotel for a really competitive price, Las Almenas has it!

Room Tip: I had a south-facing room across from some apartments that looked onto little square in the alley wh...
