“Short Break in Granada”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

We booked this hotel through Clever Hotels.com via Trivago. We needed a hotel close to the city with an indoor swimming pool for our young daughter. Our GPS could not find the hotel or the street address we had printed on the confirmation, and so we drove around Granada for an hour and had to ask directions several times. When we finally found the hotel we were told by the check in clerk that the street has 2 names and it doesn't usually show up correctly on GPS. We were also advised that our daughter was too young to use the indoor pool. Nowhere on either of the websites was there any information to advise that the age limit was 16yrs and above to use the indoor swimming pool. We also booked this hotel under the impression from other reviews that it was a 10min walk into the city (perhaps if you are jogging or speed walking). It is definately more like a 30-45mins walk. Private parking under the hotel is 15euro per day but it's so far out of town, on street parking is not a problem. The room had a black out blind which was necessary to use as the only other window coverings were horrible orange paper like strips which left gaps looking straight out into the houses across the street. We had no idea how to work the blackout blind there was no indication in the room on how to pull it down. We eventually found a switch identical to the light switches next to the head board. You could see from previous use that other people had tried to pull the blind down by hand as it was dirty and broken at the bottom. The hotel, although tastefully designed had absolutely no atmosphere, it has a big open and cold atrium with uncomfortable seating which doesn't make you want to relax and spend time having a drink. The cooked breakfast was also cold. I would not stay at this hotel again and regret making the booking.

“Nice Hotel close to Granada centre”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

We stayed at this hotel for 5 days including New Year's Eve. We booked with half board and it was a good value since most of the dinners were buffet, and only one a la carte, and the buffet offered a better variety, however the a la carte dinner was good but didn't offer many choices.

Breakfast in hotel was very good, plenty of choice.

We had a problem related to the New Year's Eve dinner since we have booked previously half board and they wanted us to charge us an extra payment, 25EUR per person for the dinner, however this issue was quickly solved and I believed it was a misunderstanding between the hotel and the agency.

Regarding New Year's Eve, I think the hotel could have organized some kind of animation like music or something like that since in Granada's center all tapas bars and pubs were closed and there was only some kind of animation in Plaza del Carmen which in my opinion was very poor and it only started at 11:30pm and finished around 1:00am.

The rooms as well as the entire hotel are beautifully decorated. The room was warm, clean and comfortable but as a couple we would prefer a king size bed instead of 2 separate beds. The biggest problem in the room was that there was only one channel TV in English (BBC News) the rest were all Spanish channels.

Parking the car in the hotel is very expensive (15EUR per night) and despite the fact that it is difficult to park the car in the center of Granada we could park the car every night in streets near the hotel.

The staff are friendly specially in the restaurant, however they don't speak any English in the restaurant only Spanish which I think should be improved since this is a skill everyone should have when working in tourism industry. This was a problem not only in the Hotel but in other touristic places as Sierra Nevada where almost no one speaks English. Alhambra was the only place in Granada where I found people who could speak English.

Hotel is near to the center by car (10 to 15 minutes), as well as near the Alhambra (10 minutes) and Sierra Nevada (30 to 45 minutes). A cab ride to the center of Granada costs around 7 to 8 EUR.

Overall we had a good time in this hotel.

“Good Hotel - Friendly Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

We stayed in the Abades Nevada Hotel over Xmas New Years and had a fantastic time. The room was well equipped and the spa experience really enjoyable. the only thing was that the room was TOO HOT and on our last day we discovered that we should have advised reception to change the winter AC ( heating) to Summer AC(cooling) however this was not a major thing!

“Close to the centre of Granada”

The hotel is a boutique hotel that is located about 10 minutes drive from the centre of Granada (7 euro cab ride). The hotel room is modern and clean. I cannot say that any design features stood out, but the colour palette of brown and yellow worked nicely. The hotel staff is generally helpful.

“Wonderful Granada + visit to Alhambra”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

We just came back form our trip and everything was wonderful. Granada is a beautiful city to walk around and get lost in its full of history streets. Don't miss to visit Albaycin and Sacromonte and, of course, the Alhambra (one of the 7 world wonders) and Generalife. You must buy your entry to these monuments with at least 2 weeks before your visit to make sure they won't run out of tickets because the daily visits are limited.
The hotel was perfect and we could enjoy not only our beautiful room but the gym and spa too and everyone around there was nice and polite. They even helped us to solve a problem we had with a taxi driver.
About what and where to eat, Granada is well know for its "caña y tapa" (beer and dish). So don't waste your money in tourist restaurants and go for a regular bar. You'll mix up with the helpful native people, and will eat and drink a lot for just a few euros.
But don't forget to visit one of the various teterias (tea shops) you'll find at almost every corner.
And, for last, if you love to ski or snowboard, you can always go for it at the nearest Sierra Nevada.
1 place that worth a million!
