This hotel is a charming jewel-toned property on the outskirts of Granada in a tranquil residential setting with beautiful views of the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. I had the wonderful serendipity while making my reservation of chatting online with the owner, Jesús, who had previously lived in my home town of Seattle and who speaks perfect English. Although I do speak Spanish, this made the whole process much simpler. An additional unexpected perk was that Jesús and I met for drinks one evening and he showed me around Granada.
The hotel itself is intimate and lovely. My room and bath were very spacious and comfortable with all the expected amenities. In the morning there was a buffet breakfast served in the spacious dining room which also has a fireplace, sofas, a television and a bank of windows that overlook a small patio, the pool and the mountains beyond.
The staff (mostly family members along with Jesús) were all very friendly and accommodating. They provided wonderful assistance in helping me to obtain a ticket for the Alhambra, bus directions, restaurant recommendations, taxis, etc. Between my Spanish skills and their English skills we had no trouble communicating.
The one important thing to understand about the hotel is that it is not located in the city of Granada. It is in an outlying town which requires taking a bus or taxi to get into town. I would recommend a taxi, unless you are in good physical shape and enjoy walking, because the route to the hotel from where the bus stops requires climbing a very steep hill. Personally, I welcomed the exercise to help work off the calories from all of the delicious food and drink I was consuming.
If you are in the mood for a special, elegant dining experience be sure to ask the front desk about the restaurant located in the small town where the hotel is located. I can't recall the name but the ambiance was eclectic and inviting and the food was delicious. I actually walked to the restaurant from the hotel; however, once again I would only recommend that if you are physically fit and enjoy a decent hike. Otherwise, it's just a short taxi ride away.
