We arrived in Granada by car and Michael was outside the town on his scooter to meet us and guide us through the tiny lanes to our car park. However, with hindsight, we don't recommend bringing a car into the Albaicin, unless of course you are driving a Fiat Bambino!!

Casa Del Aljibe is an authentic guesthouse and has a real charm all its own. Its hugh wooden entrance doors and rustic window shutters etc. all add to its charm. If you want to stay in a hotel with all the mod cons, then don't come here. However, if you want to stay somewhere with real character then Casa Del Aljibe is a very authentic Andalucian Villa. There are seats on the verandah where you can just gaze up at the Alhambra at night or look across the rooftops of the old city. On stepping out the big front doors you are soon in amongst the atmosphere of the old Arab quarter with its facinating stalls which all come alive at night, there is colour and vibrancy everywhere. We just loved it and you could be mistaken for thinking that you were somewhere in Morocco. There are many beautiful 'tea houses' and Michael told us we must try the cold lemon mint tea that they have at some tea houses. Quite sweet, but so refreshing in the heat of summer, we couldn't get enough.

Casa Del Alijibe is in the very best location imaginable for enjoying views of the Alhambra and getting out to enjoy the Albaicin at every opportunity. If you fancy a tagine instead of tapas then Restaurant Arrayanes (Tripadvisor recommended) was very closeby and we had a wonderful Moroccan meal there one even. You may need to book as it's very popular. Lemon mint tea great here also.

I stayed at Casa del Aljibe for a week and have enjoyed every moment! Located at the top of the Albaicin, the view couldn't be better. The rooms have a lot of charme and are very carefully decorated. Kitchen and fridge made self-catering possible and saved me a lot of money, and the bed was extremely comfortable. I plan to take my girlfriend to Granada soon and can't think of any better place to stay. Thanks again to the great hosts!

My husband and I stayed here for two days. The views were absolutely amazing and made the trip great. You will not get a better view in Granada! The patio with the small pond was also very charming. However, we booked room 1, which has one double bed, but were given room 6, which has two twin beds, so this wasn't quite the romantic getaway we had planned. In addition, although this wasn't an inherent problem with the hotel, the family staying in the room above us communicated solely by screaming at each other at the top of their lungs, making sleeping a little difficult.

We spent 4 nights here and just loved this magical place. The view of the Alhambra from the little deck off our room was picture-perfect. The old Moorish area in which this accommodation is situated is incredibly beautiful. It is a bit of a steep walk from the town, but we negotiated several routes and they were all interesting. We could walk up to the local restaurants or down to the town and if you wanted, you could catch the bus down to save the knees! The room itself was extremely comfortable with a great atmosphere. Would definitely recommend for its great views and atmosphere. Hosts were very friendly and helpful. It isn't the easiest place to find, but we had good directions for getting there and on leaving, we had worked out the local bus to get to the central bus station and therefore didn't have to pay for a taxi.
