“Great little hostal, but without heater!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

We were here for 2 nights in Nov 2011. Took taxi from the Granada bus station, praised the taxi driver for getting to the hostal without any hassle. Hostal is located at the very small road (alley) and it's very quite at night.
A convenience store just steps away, very handy if you want to get water, finger food.
Few tapas bar and restaurant nearby too.
Room has a very nice decoration, brass bed (though the bed is very shaky, it tends to move along when you did).
No elevator.
Bed is comfy, toilet is very clean.
Minus point -
1) there is NO heater in the room. And it's winter time!
We were struggling with the water and coldness especially in the morning.
Most probably will not stay here if it's winter/cold season.
2) Credit card machine is not working. We have no choice but pay for the room in cash , and coincidently we were running out of cash.

Other than that, it's a fine family-run hostel.

Room Tip: Do stay here if you dont need the heater.

“Lovely low key quirky hotel in excellent location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We stayed here for 3 nights over Christmas and really liked it. On Christmas night we came back to our (small but perfectly proportioned!) room to find a mini bottle of cava chilling next to some traditional Spanish Christmas sweeties, which was lovely. My only complaint would be that the aircon unit didn't really generate enough heat so the room was a bit cold. We were in hostal II and the downstairs area was really cool and I imagine would be a great place to hang out in the summer. The square to one end of the street is a bit rough but the square at the other end, the way you'd go to walk into the centre of town, was good with lots of cafes and bars.
Granada is a brilliant town- lots to see, brilliant atmosphere and fab food and wine- and this is hotel is the perfect base to stay for a few days.

“A Little Gem in Granada”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

I was recommended to Hostal Lima after failing to get a room at a nearby hostel. I stayed here for one night and had an absolutely wonderful stay in Granada. As noted by other reviewers, the booking process was very interesting. The email came in Spanish. With Google translation, I was able to reply in English with the necessary information for the booking. This is not a problem with me at all.

Upon arrival at the hostal by train from Madrid around 1.30 pm, Carmen greeted me with joy and excitement. She showed me the room immediately and gave me everything I need to know to get to the Alhambra. Although she doesn't speak much English, we were able to communicate to each other just fine using some body language.

The location of the hotel is great: less than 10 Euro cab ride from the train station, less than 5 mins walk to the Cathedral/downtown area/bus station to the Alhambra. My room is on the third floor of Hostel Lima 2. Although the room is on a smaller side, it's perfect for a solo traveler like myself. With free wi-fi, cable TV and local hospitality, what else can you ask for?

I would recommend this hotel if you ever come to visit Granada, and you will understand what I'm talking about.

Room Tip: Upper floor is always better

“Very Good, Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

A family business, where everyone worked hard. Different rooms, with different prices, common or luxury, the price difference approx. 10 euro/ night. We had a luxury room where it felt we were accommodated in a castle. The hall is decorated with armors, wooden statues, stained-glass.

Breakfast included various types of food just like at a 5 star hotel, and it was served under the vigilant eye of the owner. They spoke 4 foreign languages, it was almost impossible not to understand each other.

I would definitely recommend this hotel, and if possible, i would return.

“Wonderful Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011

We spent two nights here ... a lovely room on the second floor which had brass beds, lovely linens and a little balcony overlooking the street. We were concerned we would hear street noise as there were some bars nearby -- but it was actually very peaceful at night.

The breakfasts are very nice ... great cappucino, breads, cold cuts, chesses, fruits, yogurt ...we enjoyed eating there and meeting the other guests.

It's well located -- the Cathedral is a 5 minute walk, the Al-Hambra about 25 minutes away if you walk vs. taking the tourist bus.
