The building itself is quite unique; old and beautifully furnished in Moorish style. I stayed in the Alijbe Room which is the smallest and near the front door. You do get a lot of noise from the laneway at night when people walk by and talk loudly, as they do in Spain. There is also a bit of noise at night from the kitchen if people are preparing food. However, the environment and location more than make up for these detractions. There is a terrace at the top of the building with the most wonderful view of Granada and the Alhambra.
The other rooms are quite a bit more expensive but larger and very comfortable. One has a private terrace area.
No one at the residence speaks English so be prepared with some Spanish (I wasn't). The housekeeper is usually present during the day but at night it is only the guests, however, the residence is very secure and it is a very safe area. It is also just around the corner from the Sacromente area (gypsy "caves").
At the end of the lane is a line of restaurants, shaded by a pergola and vines and next to that is a lovely plaza where families gather in the evening and the children enjoy the fountain. Above is the Alhambra, lit up at night, very romantic. Quite a memorable sight.
