“Wonderful Experience”

What a wonderful lodging choice for a visit to Granada - great location, very comfortable accommodations and a wonderful owner & hostess! It is clearly a great place to relax and recharge after a day of sightseeing. The hotel's location is on a pedestrian lane tucked away from any street noise yet within walking distance to restaurants and historical sites.

My wife and I had planned a road trip through southern Spain during the December holiday season and wanted to find a "warm" place to enjoy the Christmas weekend. After reading several reviews, we luckily chose Carmen Del Cobertizo - this boutique hotel clearly exceeded all of our expectations.

Lorena, owner/manager, greeted us on our arrival, showed us around her hotel (home!) and helped us navigate the local streets and our visit to the Alhambra. Lorena is truly a warm and caring person - on Christmas Eve, she invited us to join her family for their holiday meal and celebration. They tolerated our very limited Spanish and kept us engaged in table discussions. Clearly this gathering was a high point of our visit and has created a life long memory!

FYI, the breakfasts were a very good value and served in the casa's dining room. Also, there is free WiFi (free) available.

We will return to Granada in the future and we will return to Carmen Del Cobertizo!!!

“Wonderful historic home”

Walking through the wooden doors into this home was a wonderful experience. A beautiful house, filled with beautiful objects and set around an internal courtyard covered by a retractable roof. We were made to feel incredibly welcome. The breakfast (additional) was superb, well worth staying in for. Thank you so much again for looking after us.

“B&B Gem in Granada”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011

This marvelously charming B&B is a superb accommodation in Granada for people who have at least a smattering of Spanish. The owner & hostess, Lorena, is wonderfully courtly and thoughtful, the personification of considerateness. She really means "Mi casa es su casa" when she says this to guests. My wife and I found her restaurant recommendations highly accurate and we enjoyed two outstanding meals in small restaurants in the Albaycin with gorgeous views of the Alhambra. Her €10 per person breakfasts were delicious and filling. Having WiFi (free) is a real attraction for Internet addicts. Other reviewers provide very useful information about how to find the house. Do be sure to follow it!

“So beautiful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

Unbelievably beautiful house, lovingly restored by the owner Lorena who welcomed me & showed me around. I have never stayed in such a lovely place. It felt just like I was a guest in her home rather than staying in a hotel. Don't expect a 24 hour reception desk & fancy add-ons, but if you love quality, atmosphere, surroundings & comfort along with a very friendly welcome, please visit! The view from the upper floor of the Alhambra is wonderful, & my room overlooked the pretty walled garden, also with a view if the Alhambra. There is also a plunge pool in the garden for the hot summer months. The Carmen del Cobertizo is wonderfully situated in a quiet passageway at the base of the Albaycin, just back from the river Darro & opposite the spectacular Alhambra. Please visit....it's wonderful! (re directions to the hotel...I was sent an e-mail from the owner with full instructions, but be careful your taxi driver understands & doesn't take you to the Hotel Carmen in the newer part of town. Mine did first, but as it was his mistake he didn't charge any extra to get me to the right destination.)

Room Tip: Try to get a room with a garden view. Slightly more but worth it!

“Directions to this hard to find gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

I agree with all of the prior wonderful things people had to say about this warm, family-run B&B. Here is what you need to know about how to find it! Print this and take it with you:

When the taxi drops you near the address there will be a bridge to your right and steps to your left. Go up the steps on Questa de Santa Ines, past the La Fontana Bar. Turn right at the first alley ( there is a courtyard on the left). The first door on your left is the hotel. There is a number 6 above it. Pull the rope to the left to ring the door bell. It may take them a while to get to the door, it is a big house.

I can not say enough nice things about our stay. The perfect location and great hosts.
