“Very good hotel for a sight-seeing tour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2010

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in December 2010. We found this hotel very good, clean and quiet although it is located in a lively area of Granada. The rooms are well-sized as well as the bathrooms. The cleanliness is up to the standard required. The staff are helpful although one of the receptionists seemed to be a little bit nervous at times.
As a disadvantage I would mention the location (in particular when you go there by car). However, this is typical for this part of Granada as the town in this part has preserved its narrow medieval streets. If you are travelling with other type of transport the location is just right. There is a bus going to the Alhambra complex, whose stop is in proximity to the hotel ( not more than 10 minutes on foot).
What I would strongly recommend, if you are travelling on your own, is that you look very carefully where the exact location of the hotel is. In fact, Plaza Lino 1 (where the hotel is located) is not very familiar to the local people and two out of three could not give you any directions to it. Once in the right area of the town, the hotel name is written in big letters so you would not miss it.
To summerize, go there and enjoy your stay!

“I would have recommended it but...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2010

I would have recommended the hotel as a clean, basic place to stay except for the experience at the end of our stay. The receptionist charged my debit card, and after long minutes with no explanation to me it was “no good”. Without much thinking about it, I gave him a second, which was accepted.

On arriving at the hotel in Cordoba – which did have working wifi – I check my accounts to find that both cards had been debited. I called to Granada immediately to solve the problem, but the (same) receptionist either couldn’t or wouldn’t understand what had happened.

The receptionist in Cordoba was kind enough the call there and ask that one of the charges be removed, whereafter we were told that the “person in charge of accounting” wouldn’t be in until Monday and to call back later. Let's see how it ends...

This aside, my initial negative vibe after first walking in the door softened after a couple of days as in general the hotel was very clean, relatively well maintained and given the price (EUR 40.5/night) it met our needs. But the initial impression that I had fallen back into Central Europe – Czech in the late 90s, Romania in the mid 00s, present-day Bulgaria – I think was accurate, from the “artwork” in the lobby, the ancient IT and the middle aged, male, chain-smoking receptionists.

Likes: Clean rooms, relative quiet area

Dislikes: Unhelpful, monoglot staff. No breakfast, wifi advertised but never worked during our stay. Incompetent or outright deceitful (regarding paying for the room, see above).

“Good Basic Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2009

This hotel is *slightly* off the main strip. Its less than a 5 min walk the major city intersections. Hotel was clean. The hotel itself was very quiet. The outside, sometimes not so much.

The cleaning staff ignored the Do Not Disturb tag.

In order to get electricity in your room you have to put a card that they give you into the wall (and take it with you when you leave)

The halls and stairwells are all motion sensing, so they are always dark unless you show up to walk there.

The surroundings are safe. Its a 5 euro trip to the train station by cab.

I would stay here again for sure.

“Very Nice Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 March 2008

I am a budget traveler and my only requirements are safe, clean, comfortable, centrally located, and at a reasonable price. This hotel exceeded all my requirements. This was by far the nicest hotel I stayed at during my three weeks in Spain. The gentleman who checked me in was most courteous and considerate with my limited Spanish, and he spoke slowly and clearly for me. He outlined for me where the hotel was and how to get around on a map. The room was very clean, non-smoking, and pleasantly decorated. The bathroom was nearly as large as my single room with a full-sized tub. Very nice quality linens and plenty of hot water and toiletries. The bed was firm but very comfortable. The hotel is located near lots of clothing stores, so there's not much night noise. It's approx. 10 min walk to Plaza Nueva (bus to Alhambra) and Plaza Santa Ana (restaurants). Internet is available in the lobby for a nominal fee. The pretty lady who works in the mornings speaks fluent English. Excellent value for approx. $70/
night. The only thing adverse I would say about this hotel is that the hallways echo and may cause a lot of noise with other inconsiderate guests. And, I was surprised there were no foreigh language channels on the TV -- especially as Granada draws thousands of tourists for the Alhambra.

“Not bad for the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2007

we stayed for 3 nights and asked for a triple room stating that it was for 3 adults. The extra bed was terrible, as it was a child matress (thin) so after complaining to reception we had it changed. So no problem on that respect, in fact he was vvery apologetic.
The room was a normal size room, plenty of space, and both the room and bathroom were very clean.
We booked this hotel through "Atrapalo" and got it for 66 euros a night!
Location was good, too. Under 5 minutes walk to the Cathedral. Under ten minutes walk to Plaza Nueva which is where Alhambra bus departs from.
