“Very good quality and service for price paid.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012 via mobile

To begin with, I would stay here again. It is ideally located between the Alhambra and the city center. All rooms differ so ask to change your room if you are not happy with it. For 38€ a night any room is good, but I must admit that a bigger window, a window in the bathroom, and sliding glass partitions instead of curtains on the ridiculously high mini bathtub would have been appreciated in our room. And if you're traveling as a couple, ask for double beds or 2 singles together. Ours had a few other things needing immediate attention and they were. Management is warm & friendly. Breakfast for 3.50€ is generous - ask for typical fresh tomato marmalde on toast sprinkled with olive oil. Fresh orange juice and deliciously strong coffee always on offer. The 3 nights we were there, we parked our rental car on the streets (no problem - underground parking 5€ a day) and took the bus directly to either direction. Walked up to the Alhambra 20-30 mins on foot, depending on how many times you stop for photos. Decided to walk down as well as buses are not that frequent. The Albanta Restaurant -Pub nearby marked the perfect end to the day.

“Very nice accommodation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

Me and my boyfriend stayed there a few days in summer 2010. Very nice people and strategic confortable accommodation to visit Alhambra. I would definitly suggest to stay there to visit Granada. Also it is reachable by the tourist bus. It is worth buying the ticket for a vist of the city through this red bus.

“Lovely hotel a little far out”

We arrived in Granada centro in the early evening and chose to walk to the Albero. I thought it was slightly closer than the 35 min walk but that was just my map-reading. The hotel is clean, compact and friendly, with English spoken by Jose. He is very friendly and the place is family-run so you feel looked after even though they are often busy.

Apparently the rooms near reception are noisy but the back of the hotel is very quiet. You can walk to the Alhambra too in about 25 mins but if you don't want to then Jose will give you full instructions on buses and cabs.

We were only here for a couple of nights so did a lot of walking, including going to bars and restaurants on the left as you walk along the main road into town, all of which were very basic but very nice. If you're here for longer or having big nights out you might tire of the need for cabs/buses to get to the more exciting places in town.

Breakfast and water etc is extra but still reasonable and Jose let us print out our plane tickets for our onward journey at reception, which is open 24 hrs.

It's basic but good value and if you don't mins being out of town then stay here.

Room Tip: Get one near the back.

“Great little hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

This little hotel deserves a higher rating. At least 3 stars! The room was very clean, comfortable, with small touches not seen elsewhere (like blinds to help with street noise that did work and extra blankets). Nice bathroom. Location a bit out of town but good, cheap bus service. Alhambra pick up available at the hotel next door. Lovely restaurant nearby. Pepe, the owner, speaks wonderful English and was so helpful, warm, and welcoming. He gave us very good information, directions, and tips about the city including a bus pass with money on it. We were able to stay later than checkout b/c of an overnight train. 2 entrances: one where most cabs leave you has a lot of steps and the other only a few but Pepe and the staff helped us immediately. 24 hr. desk!!! WiFi was GREAT!! Breakfast room very typical -- relaxed breakfast hours (or as Pepe said when we asked when breakfast ended, "Oh whenever . . . I'm here anyway") but we it had only once. As a long time (40 years) European traveler who enjoys local, small hotels and pensiones, this was one of the best ever. Pepe was wonderful! European small hotels can be noisy both inside and outside on the streets, and are NOT luxurious . . . but you're only sleeping. I want to meet locals not more Americans. I'm always on a budget, and I take earplugs. I don't always need them . . . but I know what to expect. This was truly a pleasant surprise. Great value for the money. I recommend this little gem highly.

“Terribly noisy - do not accept room 2!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2011

Booked having read other reviews. Hadn't realised when we booked that that the hotel was so far out of town, but to be fair, the bus service was cheap and efficient (buy a card for 5 Euros for 7 trips, or other multiples) so this wasn't a problem. What was a problem was the TERRIBLE sound insulation in the room. We could overhear everything at reception, the toilet flushing next door, voices on the corridor and at the breakfast buffet opposite. If you choose to go, make sure you are not in a room near reception. I'm not sure how the other rooms are.
Otherwise, I guess you get what you pay for: functional, no frills, smallish room, but clean.

Room Tip: Do not accept a room near reception. Extremely noisy
