“Great Spot From Which To Attack The Alhambra”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

Casa Morisca was the perfect base for our adventure in Granada. You are a 15 minute walk up the hill to Alhambra and situated at the base of the Albayzin. As others have mentioned, I wouldn't recommend the walk up the hill to Alhambra for those who are out of shape or elderly. The hotel arranged for our Alhambra reservation which made life easier.

One downside, the hotel is very difficult to find via car. We drove around for about thirty minutes using Iphone navigation before locating. But, if you can find the place the free parking is a nice feature.

The rooms are not the largest and some may not enjoy the twin mattresses pushed together to make a larger bed. But, the charm of this hotel is the magnificent restoration of this architectural gem. The woodwork is second to none. You'll feel second only to Washington Irving. We stayed in an exterior double overlooking the parking area. We could see the Alhambra from the terrace.

“Location good but not perfect”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

We stayed in the Mirador room, supposedly the best in the house. It does have a nice view and is spacious enough for 2 people, but if you're staying for one than one night, I'm not sure that it's worth the extra cost. Hotel was clean and service was sufficent. No complaints.

Location is a mixed bag and not for everyone. The clerk said it was a 15-20 minute walk to the Alhambra. He didn't mention that the walking path is very steeply upwards (no stairs), cobblestone most of the way, a sign on the trail says the walk time is 33 minutes; it took us at least that time, and we were physically exhausted at the top (we're not in bad physical shape). I do not recommend the walk for anyone not in good shape. Take a taxi instead and walk down if you want.

Because the hotel is near the Alhambra, it also means that it is about 15-20 minutes downhill to the restaurant and shopping area (that mean's uphill on the way back). Lunch and dinner means exercise going home.

Take what the locals say about time and distance with a grain of salt; we learned in Spain that a 2 minute walk is really a 10 minute walk, and a 10-15 minute talk is 30 minutes. Plus, it's all on cobblestone, which increases the exercise (and we're in pretty good physical shape). Not a complaint, just an observation.

I enjoyed the hotel, but would not go there again. On your trip, you probably will visit the Alhambra just once. Unless you love the romantic view (and it is romantic), stay in the cathedral district; taxi or shuttle bus up to the Alhambra, take a lot of pictrues, walk down, and take a lot of pictures before walking back to your hotel. Then enjoy your meals and shopping in the flat town!

“Nice hotel near the Alhambra!”

We can see La Alhmabra from our window. This atraction can be reached by foot in 15-20 minutes and is one of the most beatiful! buildings I've ever seen. And there are a lot of restaurants and other atractions nearby. We are four and stayed in a nice room (although somewhat small for us). Breakfast and bathroom is OK. My only problem was with internet, whose signal does not reach our room.

Room Tip: I think it would be better to take 2 rooms if you're traveling with 3 others.

“Fabulous location with views of the Alhambra”

We stayed four nights in this hotel. The rooms were very clean, spacious, and very comfortable beds. The Mirador room is lovely, with superb views of the Alhambra. Breakfast is optional, maybe a bit pricey but very convenient and with a good selection of food. We loved the atmosphere of this hotel and would definitely recommend it to others.
