“Ski week”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

person found this review helpful

Im just back from a ski week to the Sierra Nevada, well Pradollano to be exact. Ive read the negative comments from other previous hotel guests and just cannot agree with them. The hotel possibly is not 4 star, but neither was the price i paid. It is ideal for Alhambra and accessing the main road to go up la montana. Its an easy 15 min walk downhill to the centre of Granada.
We were a group of 40 skiers and there were also lots of japenese tour groups in and out each day so thats who is mainly there. They ( meaning me ) are getting a good deal for bed/ breakfast and evening meal.
We had a gala eveing on the last night and it was downstairs in the nonw buffett dinningroom. The food and drink served was a better class than the other nights and showed actually what they were capable off.
Room was nice and clean and no problem, i got wifi connection no probs on the 4th floor !!!
As it was late january the pool was empty so cant comment about anything like that.
I would go back anytime and recomend it but again it is all dependant on what u have paid and therefore expect !!

“Dreadful place, trading on its position and reliant on tour groups.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2011

I arrived about 1000hrs and was greeted by a smell of not too fresh cooking fat coming from the breakfast underway in the dining room. I was given my room which was helpful.
The Hotel had cancelled my original booking, without reference to me, because they said there was a problem with my card one that was not obvious when checked. Fortunately (I was already en-route to the hotel, albeit 2 weeks away from arrival) Booking.com had told me about it and I was able to rebook, using the same card not knowing any other hotels or the area. The price had gone up 20%, strangely a similar amount to the Booking.com fee. I asked the hotel to honour the original booking but they refused. This attitude and approach could be construed as sharp practice but I am not qualified to say and when I returned to the subject of the increased charge the following day on check out the duty manager was adamant and charged the increased amount. He agreed that this increase in charges happens often. I wonder if this is reflected in trip advisor or the Booking.com site, I certainly didn't see it or I wouldn't have booked.
This place exists because of its 'prime' location and a heavy through put of tour groups. It is run down, scruffy, the carpets are wrinkled providing trip hazards and are badly worn, it needs a major upgrade and both the dining room and reception staff are barely civil. The communal areas are not too clean either. The paintwork/varnish is chipped and marked, the sheets and table cloths are worn and look bad. The room was freezing (December) and took about 4 hours to warm up using the inefficient warm air heating system. How it got and retains its 4 stars is beyond me. The food is indifferent and during dinner the room filled with smoke from the dining room cook hob unit, chef's inexperience if not potentially dangerous incompetence. I would not recommend it. If you want to visit the Palace stay in town where there is far more choice and take the bus up, or walk for your visit.
btw this is about the first negative review I have ever written but this place and the staff attitude certainly earned it in but only my unqualified opinion.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else.

“Perfect for the Alhambra”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

We spent one night here and overall it was a good experience, the location is excellent for a visit to the Alhambra which is just across the road, there is adequate car parking either in the hotel car park or the Alhambra across the road for the same price. we stayed on a half board basis and the food for both dinner and breakfast was buffet style and excellent. It's a hotel popular with tour groups because of it's location so it can be quite busy. The room was comfortable and more than adequate for an overnight stay.

Room Tip: Beware the ham and cheese toasted sandwiches in the bar, the ham and cheese was tasteless and the wh...

“Nice hotel in great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

Nice room in a great location right next to the Alhambra Palace with dicounted parking on the palace car park. Short 10 minute walk to town through a lovely parkland. Service was good and breakfast offered a wide range of choices.

“Great location for visiting the Al-Hambra palaces”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

Situated right next to the Al-Hambra, and about a 15 walk down to the town centre, through the Generalife gardens, it was an excellent location for us.

The hotel handles a lot of tour groups, so there was a constant flow of people, but the staff were efficient, friendly, helpful. Although the hotel looks a bit dated, our room was very comfortable and quiet (not often found in my experience). Probably my only gripe would be about the Wifi, which is available on each floor in a small sitting area, and the signal didn´t reach our room. Not a big deal unless you need to spend more than just a few minutes on the Internet.
If you're driving, you can leave your car in the public car park in front of the hotel, at a preferred rate of 14.95 euro for 24 hours.

There is a swimming pool which is open during the summer months only.

As we hadn´t been able to book online in advance our tickets for the Al-Hambra, we called the hotel about 10 days beforehand and booked a guided tour through them. At 46 euro per person it seemed a bit expensive, but our guide was very informative.

We stayed here during the last week of October, and booked online through Booking.com getting a great rate (a superior room for 65 euro for 2 people including breakfast).
