“Disappointed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2011

Our room wasn't too bad but we were very disappointed with the breakfast. The cereals were damp and the 'hot' food was very cold even when the restaurant first opened and coffee was undrinkable. I would not go back there, especially as it's supposed to be 4 star.

Room Tip: We were facing the street and our room wasn't bad but others had back rooms and they were really...

“Great value, helpful staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 April 2011

Reasonable rates. let down by poky room. Location close to Avda Colon but not so close to cathedral.
Breakfast ok considering poor standard of food in Andalucia in general. Not a salad in sight.
Car park on site at 17 Euro per night.
B'fast was included.

“Rooms too small,”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 April 2010

The rooms simply cannot be smaller. Smaller only in Japan in capsule hotels probably. This makes air stale quickly and don't get a good sleep.

Aircondtitioning is probably tens of years old and makes rumbling noise so can't really have it at night.

We had two rooms. One facing the street. Another facing inside. The one to the street has a window which can be opened for a bit of fresh air, but young Granadian students like to dance and sing all night every night, traffic noise too. The other one has a very small window to inside brick walled shaft, can be opened for air ok, but view is brick.

The breakfast was good. Good selection of local cheeses and sausages. Good coffe and drinks.

WiFi internet worked well as promised.

Cheap rooms overall. But if I knew they are so small I would have paid more and gone elsewhere.

And yes, the worst of all is poor sound insulation. I heard well when a couple in the next room talked and when they went to the toilet too.

My friends had a good drink one night and spoke in their room a bit noiser than normal people do and I heard them from my room in the other end of the floor. Had to go and ask them to tune down before someone else did.

“Well rooms don't get much smaller...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2009

I stayed at the Macia Condor for a couple of nights whilst attending (an excellent) wedding in Granada. The groom had suggested the place on the basis of its location, which I can't fault. The room, however, was super small and strangely had a balcony twice the size of the sleeping area (Room 701 as I remember). The air con made lots of noise but didn't generate any cool air so I was permanently hot. There was no minibar even though there was a price list for it. No great loss as there clealy wasn't room for it. It was a small single bed.

Definitely not even close to four stars by UK standards, but the staff were friendly enough and I guess the pennies were respectable. I suspect it's worth finding out if there are any larger rooms available. Oh and it did have free wifi which gives it an extra star. Breakfast was typical buffet.

“the best stay and the less money we paid in Spain”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2009

I made an intense research to book the hotels in Madrid and Barcelona on internet before our departure. I supposed we couldn't get anything decent under 60EUR until we stayed at the Macia Condor in Granada.
We found this hotel through a travel agency in Seville. I must say I was quite confused to have a 4 stars accommodation for just 50 EUR but we went on. Yes, it is true what other reviewers say: it is not a real Spanish 4 stars hotel. But if you keep in mind what you have paid and what other hotels are asking for poor rooms you should be more than happy ( I almost booked a room in a hostel for 60 EUR!). The hotel is really nice and the staff is the most friendly people I have had behind a desk, they even helped us to find sport stores in town! We had a nice room with balcony over the gran via. The room was amazingly quite and the bathroom was also spacious and nice.
My husband visited Granada some years ago and he stayed closer to the Alhambra, in the historic city. His first impression was "oops, the location is bad" but after visiting the Alhambra and its surrounding we completely changed his mind. La Gran Via is a commercial center a little away from the narrow alleys filled with "tapas bar" lounges (a joke for locals because a tapa is an aperitif you get anyway, so every bar is a tapas bar in Spain!), souvenir shops and, of course, tourists.
My only complains are:
- the bathroom ventilation: it wasn't nice to get odors from other rooms and
- the glass in the shower: too short to have a decent shower without spreading water
Small problems anyway compared to the impeccable service we got for just 50 EUR
