“Dated hotel, brusque service, but a nice location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

We stayed for 3 nights 2 superior rooms over the New Year period.

The hotel feels very dated in terms of both decor and service. The rooms are adequate although showing a fair bit of wear. Cleaning staff were friendly and efficient. We stayed on the top floor which once had a dedicated lounge are which is now empty (giving the central area an abandoned feel). Our superior rooms looked onto an internal light well rather than an external view.

I found the service to be very brusque though efficient. A request to book a nice restaurant was met with groans and indications of difficulty (although a suitable booking was made).

The hotel is centrally located and you can walk to most major attractions (alternatively the main bus routes are close by)

“Top Location but a bit tired”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

We stayed there for a bit more than a week. The location is undeniable top. You are in the city center but you can do basically the whole city until the Alhambra by foot without problems. The view of some rooms on the Sierra Nevada is great. The Deluxe Rooms with a balcony are the best rooms available and you can enjoy the sun all day long. The rooms on the inside court are not that good unforunately as very dark, hot and no air circulation as the air conditioning only gives hot air in the winter. Rooms were clean and refreshed regularly. The staff during breakfast and reception is sometimes not very reactive and takes everything quite slowly, if there is a rush you have to fight for a smile. The breakfast buffet is very rich and gives a great variety of regional dishes.

“Wonderfull week in Granada”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

We spent a week at the Melia Granada, the nicest staff that I have encountered in a long time. Nice breakfast, clean rooms and great location, close to many nice restaurants and bars. In the best part of town; just a great hotel.

“Great location, large rooms, unfriendly staff. Sound is an issue...”

We stayed at Melia Granada for 2 nights. The hotel is in a great location and within walking distance to attractions. We walked to the Cathedral, Alhambra, Albayzin...Granada is not a huge city so things were fairly close.

The staff at the hotel were not friendly and seemed annoyed if i asked them anything. The rooms were large by European standards, but a little older and not as clean as other places. The layout of the bathroom was weird with the bidet right where you would step out of the shower. The walls were very thin. We could actually hear the neighbor snoring all night. Bring earplugs!!! A plus is there is free wifi in the lobby, just ask the front desk for a password.

We ate at La Oliva, which was about a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Make sure you make reservations if you plan to eat there. We also ate on Calle Navas. El Enganche Taberna was one of our favorite places in Spain. Croquettes were good, the clams were amazing. La Vianda was okay but we mostly got fried items and the menu was small. We also tried Manolo Restaurante in Bib Rambla, which was absolutely horrible.

“Overnight stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

Beds comfortable -good value and right in the centre of town. Always remember to let reception know if you have come by car as otherwise you may get fined for taking your car into the centre. Free Internet in reception area if you ask for it. Breakfast ok
