“American-style hotel with amazing location (but strong odor)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 March 2011

I stayed at the NH Hotel Inglaterra in Granada, Spain, for two nights in February 2011. It was very easy to find, only one block off Gran Via and very close to all the tourist sites and shopping. I had reserved online for a single room but was given a double when I arrived (as they were out of single rooms). (The online reservation system let me reserve a room without credit card as long as I arrived by 6 pm!) There is an elevator up to the third floor (where I was), which was nice, but I used the stairs most of the time. First impression of the room: standard American room, fairly large, nice closet, great TV (lots of channels, including several in English), mini-balconies, thermostat (AC/heat), minibar/fridge, ensuite bathroom with an enclosed shower, and the best bathroom amenities I have seen anywhere in the world: sponge, shampoo, toothbrush (with toothpaste), showercap, and orange-smelling glycerin soap. The friendly front desk staff spoke English and helped me connect my netbook for the free 30 minutes of lobby-only Wifi included with the price. The bed was very comfortable. The biggest negative (and it was a big one) was the smell of the room. It smelled strongly of cleaner/perfume. Luckily the room had two balcony/windows which I could open to try to air the room out. The first night, though, was cool, so I had to close the windows, and the smell was almost too much for me. (The second night, I was able to air the room out more.) The room was also not quiet, but closing the windows helped a lot.

“Can't recommend - not 4 star”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2011

In general I like hotels of the NH group, but not this one.
The first impression of the hotel is more 2 star than 4 star.
Value for money is poor.
The hotel requires you to pay in advance even though a credit card guarantee was given.
Location is good.

“This hotel needs a face lift.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2010

Although the location is great, the hotel needs updating. The layout of our room was peculiar - very narrow with some older furniture blocking access to the closet. There was paint peeling off the bathtub, and the wooden floor was warped and squeaked at the entrance to the bathroom (not great in the middle of the night when you're trying to be quiet). The pricey breakfast was certainly not worth the money, and they were very pushy about having to reserve at check in. On the plus side, the room was surprisingly quiet given its location. If you do wind up booking here, ask for a room in the back of the hotel.

“A good choice for Granada”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2010

On of the main advantages of this hotel is it's location. It's situated in the centre of Granada within easy reach to major attractions, shops and restaurants.

The building its an old one, a bit tired in places but charming and manages to transmit a feeling of 1940's Spain.

The room was adequate, it could do with a bit of updating, but I found the facilities to be in general satisfactory. The room wasn't huge but spacious enough, good amount of space in wardrobes, comfortable bed and well stocked minibar, what more can one ask?

I've read in other reviews that it is noisy, maybe I was in a different room but I slept beautifully.

The breakfast consisted of a good selection of pastries, bread, fruit, cereals to suit all tastes.

Their staff were particularly helpful, I lost my boarding pass and they assisted me in printing a new one.

“Good location but wit deficiencies within the installations.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2010

The hotel is on a fantastic location, being close to everything what's interesting to see.
The staff is very friendly and helpful.
However... the room (104) was a turn-down. Our bathroom door was rotten ( not exaggerating). The sealing compound around the bathtub is black from mould and smelly..
But worst of all is the fact, that there are no non-smoking rooms (!!!???) available in this hotel. Our room was STINKING from cigarette smoke. It was just disgusting.
Thanks again to the staff who tried to ventilate and do the out-most possible to remedy this situation.
*** classification is definitely OVERRATED!!!
