“Great value hotel in city centre”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Me and my partner stayed at this hotel for one night in February 2012. We chose it for it's central location and good value for money, and we weren't disappointed.

When we arrived for check-in, we experienced great customer service and the check-in was fast and efficient. Upon arrival in our room, we found it to be very modern and spacious - with a very large bed and a large modern and clean bathroom.

The location is perfect for all tourist sights in the city and is within walking distance to a large selection of restaurants and bars.

Overall, we were very happy with the hotel and our stay here and would recommend it to anyone visiting Granada.

“Brilliant location - quaint, lovely hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

Stayed here for 3 nights and it was exactly what we had in mind. Yes, the reception may have been small and the hotel faciities were basic but the rooms are exceptionally designed, bathroom was spacious enough. There is a lounge area for guests on the top floor. This leads to a roof terrace overlooking the Alhambra palace which is worth seeing. Especially at night, if you are looking for a romantic ambience. The hotel is located in the shopping disctrict of Granada, so shops and eateries were right at our doorstep. The taxi's do not stop right outside the hotel so you will be dropped off by the main road, just a few yards away and then make your way down the cobbled pavement to Room Mate Leo.We did not spend much time in the hotel, only to rest our heads. There are many food/eating options around Granada. Most bars offer a selection of free tapas with a drink. They come in good portions as well. It is also worth visiting a flamenco show at a bar. You may need to purchase a ticket in advance. So the best thing to do is to have a little wonder and check out the different locations for flamenco. Book a show for that same evening and return after some dinner. The bus which takes you to the Alhambra palace is only a couple of minutes away from Room Mate Leo. The Alhambra palace itself was simply breathtaking. Granada overall is a wonderful city and I would definitely go back and I will be staying at Room Mate Leo again.

“What exactly are "breakfast coupons" for????”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012
5
people found this review helpful

The hotel is in an excellent location - on a main pedestrian-only shopping street in Granada. The style and quality is what you'd expect from a Room Mate, so there are no surprises there.

Here's where there is a surprise. When we checked in, the receptionist handed us 2 breakfast coupons for our 2 nights' stay. We thought she gave us these coupons for free breakfast because our room wasn't ready for 5 hours, and we had to leave our valuables and luggage in the lobby.

When the breakfast staff asked for our room, we said we had the coupon, and she accepted it. We did this both mornings.

Then to our surprise, when we paid the bill, we were charged for breakfast both mornings!!!! An extra 25 euros on our bill when we thought that breakfast had been comped (isn't that what coupon means?!?!?). We said we the coupons, but the man checking us out said that the coupons mean nothing. That they are only a way to count the number rooms eating breakfast.

We think that calling these "breakfast coupons" is extremely deceiving. Why did we need to have them, if the breakfast staff already asked for our room number? She didn't need the coupon, did she?

We wouldn't have eaten breakfast there if we weren't given the coupons, which again we thought were for the inconvenience.

Point to everyone reading this: beware of the coupons!!! They are, in fact, not really coupons!!!!!

Dear Sir,
Thank you for taking the time in writing your review in Tripadvisor.
I believe there was a confusion with the check-in time. Check-in time is 2pm, as you can see in our website. However If the rooms are available before that time, we are always pleased to check our clients in. The hours previous check-in time can be inconvenient, but it is necessary for the preparations of the rooom for our next clients. We offer the possibility taking care of your luggage while you are waiting for your room.

Our reception staff is not authorized to offer complimentary breakfasts and they always inform all our guests about the price of the breakfast.

Our hotel is located in a pedestrian street, one of the main shopping street in Granada.

Kind regards,
Miriam Expósito

“Great central , modern and stylish hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

We couldnt have asked for more in a reasonable priced but stylish central hotel. The frontage is very narrow and it sits between 2 trendy shops in one of the pedestrian shopping streets, but inside this hotel is like a tardist. The rooms are well appointed and mostly similar in facilities and size. They are all modern and stylishly furnished within this grand old building . Our bathroom was almost as big as the bedroom with wetroom area . We had bay windows in our room which looked over the shopping street but being traffic free was very quiet. There was a residents lounge on the top floor with a fantastic view of the alhambra from its terrace . We were offered the room with its own private terrace but opted for the other as we prefer a king size bed to a double.
The dinning araea occupies the old andalucian indoor terrace area with the addition of a ceiling so you are now indoors. The buffet breakfast was varied and good value, offering everything but a full english/ american breakfast. It is optional so if you want a cooked breakfast you could choose to eat out at one of the many city centre cafes on the doorstep.
The staff were very firendly and welcoming , the rectionist , being an irish expat, speaks english and there is a local lady too.
I would definately recommend and use this hotel again myself .

Room Tip: The terrace room has a private sundeck with furniture if you want to chill out , but does only have...
