“mixed review”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

I wish I could give the whole-hearted endorsement that others have given but I can't.

We stayed at RM Leo in mid November for 3 nights. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Helping me to understand what I needed to do to get my Alhambra tickets and providing suggestions for restaurants. Everyone at the front desk seemed to speak English and I was very pleased with them.

Our room, 306, faced the street and was pretty light, in spite of the very dark decor, and big. Unfortunately there was a horrible odor in the room. I thought it smelled like sewer gas. We tried opening the windows but it didn't make a difference. We thought maybe the room hadn't been used for a while so ran the taps, flushed the toilet and ran the shower. Then we left thinking that would solve the problem. We came back a few hours later and the smell had intensified to the point that it permeated the hallway too.

I went to the front desk and asked for another room. They were able to accomodate us in a much smaller interior room with no natural light which was pretty claustrophic. I didn't like it nearly as much but at least it didn't smell.

The next morning we found that when you took a shower even though the shower was sealed, there was about an inch or more of water all over the bathroom floor. Anything on the floor was completely soaked.

I will choose a different hotel should I be in granada again.

Good points:
high speed internet worked well
good breakfast until noon!
friendly and helpful staff
Wonderful 5th floor terrace with a view of the Alhambra

Bad points:
Clearly some plumbing issues in the building
dark decor

Room Tip: Ask for a window facing the outside.

“Excellent location and superb staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011

Room Mate Leo is in a perfect location for exploring Granada and the reception staff are super helpful when it comes to providing information about getting around or going for dinner. It's on a well lit street so it feels safe to walk back to during the night and is within a 20 minute (uphill) walk from The Alhambra. Our room was modern and fairly spacious with a good heating system. There's plenty of choice for breakfast and it lasts until midday!

“Good Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2011

I stayed with my sister and parents for two nights in October. Both rooms were nicely decorated with comfortable furnishings and stylishly urban design. We loved the roof top terrance with it's expansive view of the surrounding city. There is also a complimentary laptop for guests use. The breakfast buffet was great and stays available until noon - that's a winner. The location was very convenient for exploring the city. Also, the front desk were very, very helpful. They provided maps and gave solid tips on places to go, etc. Overall, nothing negative to say and I'd return in a heartbeat.

“Great Service, Great View, Great Value!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2011

This hotel was definitely a great homebase for our Granada exploration. Check-in was easy as the front desk staff was very welcoming and helpful and were open to speaking to us in either English or Spanish. We got the executive terrace room. The room was clean, a little small but comfortable. The highlights were the terraces. First the main terrace open to all guests had stunning views of The Alhambra. Our private terrace was huge, I would say as large as our room. What really made this hotel stand out was the customer service. The door to the terrace was jammed on our first night, and the staff came up within 5 minutes and fixed it. Also our shower head was loose and they fixed it the morning we reported it. Finally we were provided with eating and drinking utensils in a timely manner on multiple occasions when we requested them.

Likes:
- Location. It was on Calle Los Mesones which was one of the main shopping streets with stores like Zara. 5 minute walk to Calle Navas (good Tapas Bars), 10 minute walk to the Royal Chapel, Cathedral, and Albayzin District.
- Location continued. Away from the busy street since Calle Los Mesones is a pedestrian street.
- The terraces!
- complimentary apples at entrance.
- friendly and helpful staff.
- free WiFi that worked really well.
- Shower pressure was great on the upper floor.
- Rooms were had good lighting.

Issues that we encountered but may not be an issue to other guests:
- As said above, a few things needed fixing but were fixed very quickly.
- We could hear other guests through the walls but not so much as to really bother us.

Other things to consider:
- Hairdryer, safe and refrigerator located in room
- Cab ride from train station was about 10 Euro and to the airport was about 35 Euro.
- They offer breakfast but we didn't choose to try it.

Enjoy Granada!

Room Tip: The executive terrace room was worth it because it had a huge private terrace with patio furniture.

“A new favorite”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

The staff couldn't have been more accommodating. We got into town hours before check-in; they stored our luggage and delivered it to the room. They gave us a map and highlighted nearby streets where we could find cafes and restaurants, and provided information about public transportation, tickets and hours at local attractions, how to find bank locations and the like. Our room smelled like cigarette smoke, so they offered to move us and let us look at several options; we stuck with our original room because we liked the floorplan and view best. The building is quite old so the rooms are not huge. But I appreciated that they kept the structural integrity of the old building and decorated creatively to make a bright, attractive, stylish, highly functional and comfortable space with plenty of closet and storage room, nice lighting and a comfortable bed. The bathroom is spacious and modern. We loved our french doors and Juliet balcony, and the roof deck. The location is excellent, lots to see and do within walking distance. The products are so-so; after trying theirs I stuck with my own soap and shampoo.
