We've passed this hotel often and, knowing it's history of being one of the original "hot spots" in the tourist boom in the 60's, we've always fancied having a few days there.
It was a really nice place to stay. We had room 411 which was right at the end of the corridor and overlooked the beach. Nice big room, but as stated elsewhere, perhabs needing a little bit of TLC to get it up to 4 * standard. Room was HUGE and clean and tidy but 2 little niggles. The shower was PATHETIC. Maybe being at the end of the corridor didn't help. Also the balcony, whilst having a great outlook was pretty small and the 2 chairs and little table just about filled it up. Apart from that , the TV had Sky News and BBC1 and ITV so if you needed to catch up it was there.
The public areas are quite grand with the main lobby being about 100 metres long with a beautiful marble floor.
The 2 bars were quite quiet as the clientel seemed to be mostly Spanish pensioners on a (subsidised??) holiday. However, the barmen were very smart, efficient and cheery. Prices not too bad either.
The dining experience was fine. Breakfast the usual buffet stuff with very good service from the waiting staff in their smart outfits.
Evening meals were fine too, for a buffet. Plenty of choices each night and quality was good. The house wine at 7.95 euros a bottle was a snip.
We didn't fancy the night time entertainment (Keyboard/singer stuff) so can't comment.
Good flat walking along the prom either to Torremolinos to the left or Benalmadena to the right seemed to be a very popular pastime during the day although the resort was very quiet at night. All in all a nice way to spend a few days away from the Scottish weather. I'd go back .
