We stayed at this hotel for Christmas and New Year.
On arrival the receptionist was very friendly and helpful gave us the usual information, where the restaurant and bar was and gave us our silver bands.
The room itself was very nice, the doorway opened into a sitting lounge with TV then onto a corridor which had wardrobes either side of the bathroom entrance then onto the bedroom and balcony, we had a sea view room. The wardrobes had plenty of hangers and the safe only cost 10 euros, which you get back when you return the key. We also hired a fridge at a cost of 3 euros a day which kept the milk/proper gin n tonic cold etc. There was not a kettle in the room but we had brought our own.
The food was o.k. with lots of variety but was often only luke warm or sometimes cold and if you went during the last 3/4's hour of serving the labels stating what the food was had been removed so you had to guess. There was a lack of potatoes, chips were served often but not much other variety and if you are a vegetarian this may not be the place for you as there was very little vegetables, but the salads were good.
You helped yourselves to drinks in the restaurant, larger, 3 colours of wine, fizzy pop and water. Juice and hot drinks at breakfast.
There was a seated covered patio area which also had larger, pop and hot drinks in which you helped yourself to, but when the Spanish came later in the week this was only open during cakes time 16.00 - 18.00 as the Spanish were not all inclusive.
The bar/lounge was good if you could get a seat, at first it was mainly British so we shared tables no problem. The only thing was the lack of bar staff. The main bar person worked very hard, but the bar was often very busy and it was difficult to serve in turn and there was no queueing system. The drinks available were on lists on the bar, there was a wide variety but some did not taste the same as in Britain. Don't try the sherry! Yuk The bar was open 10.00 to 24.00.
There was very little entertainment, a few nights there were acts crooning, but on a couple of nights the receptionist Javier was thrown in at the deep end having to do the entertainment as the normal lady had broken both legs. He tried his best and was very funny, but I don't think it was to everyones taste ie bingo and quiz nights took nearly all night.
A problem with this hotel though was that although there were a number of 'Madge Scooters' lined up on the corridor, the nearest toilet to the bar was outside the restaurant ie through reception and then you either had to take the lift or the stairs, so it was not very good if you were caught short, or are bad on your legs.
There was no entertainment in the day, so you can catch the bus into Torremolenous the bus stop is across the road outside the hotel and if you cross the road at the terminus and go into the ticket office you can purchase bono tickets which are tickets containing 10 bus rides for the L1 and L2 bus journeys and the ticket costs the equivalent of 5 bus rides. A tip, when you are returning, look out for the RIU sign from the sister hotel and get off the bus here as the bus then takes another 5-10 mins depending on traffic before it gets back to the hotel stop. The walk from the sister hotel is only 2 mins.
In Torromolenous you can catch busses to other places also.
If you want to travel further afield, the train station called 'La Colina' is only 10-15 mins away, go out of the hotel, turn right and walk up the road until you see the sign for the station, turn right and it is on the end of the road. The ticket machine looks complicated, but it is touchscreen and if you press the union jack symbol at the bottom left then English is displayed then you press where you want to go, whether single or return and the number of tickets and it displays the price. The machine even takes notes and gives change. You can get to Malaga one way and Fuengirola the other way with plenty of stops in between.
Torremolenous itself is nice although very hilly but if you walk right along the promenade and get to the fishing boat, keep going for another 5-10 mins then you will see alot more shops which were nice, we only found this on the day before we left otherwise we would have visited it more.
Overall the hotel was nice, but a bit on the outskirts, if it had been more central I would definately consider going again.

Room Tip: We had a top floor room in the middle complex so looked directly out to sea.
