“Shame about the breakfast”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

We stayed here a couple of years ago and thought we would give it another try especially at the amazingly low prices that were being offered. The hotel was very clean, comfortable, loads of sunbeds, the rooms were a good size and the staff were helpful and friendly. Its in a good location about five minutes walk from the promenade and a couple of minutes to the nearest bars and restaurants......oh and a brothel at the end of the road.......everything perfect then?
Unfortunately the breakfast was very poor, one of the worst we have had in a four star, probably the worst and it was the same every day. Apparently they have responded to the downturn by offering very low rates to attract coach parties and in turn reduced the breakfast budget to offset the reduction in hotel rates.
Its a shame because everything else is excellent but when you get up for breakfast you hope for a little more tan a fried egg, beans, bread, a bit of cheese and some tinned fruit, honestly it was real poor. probably wouldn't stay here again until this problem is sorted.

“Lovely hotel, shame about the food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2011

What a lovely hotel with beautiful grounds. Cannot fault the room which was cleaned everyday. The staff were lovely and accommodating. The food was dreadful and we ended up eating out most nights. As a family we felt that the hotel was missing a great opportunity with their lack of entertainment and the awful food they served to their guests. Restaurant always stopped serving much earlier than the times advertised.

Not a great resort for teenagers (we have two) at this time of year - perhaps it is better peak season!

Would stay at the hotel on a room only basis but to be honest wouldn't rush back to the resort.

Room Tip: Great room with lovely pool view.

“Very Poor Restaurant”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2011

To be honest my opinion of the hotel is clouded by the disastrous restaurant. The hotel itself is okay though the rooms are in need of updating. The pool and pool area are okay though a tad tired and shabby. The location is uphill from the sea front and shops and is not suitable for those with mobility difficulties. The restaurant is poor and is below the standard I have ever experienced before. There is an absurdly small choice of hot dishes and often nothing that any us wanted. There tends to be two or three main dishes to choose from that are Spanish in nature (dont expect anything remotely English and dont expect chips!). The choice is woeful especially for a four star hotel (or even three star) and the whole dining experience, which should be a highlight of any holiday, is a disappointment tinged with anger. The choice at breakfast is also unbelievably poor. I write this from the hotel lobby after having a breakfast of toast and cereal as there was no bacon, eggs or even proper beans this morning as has been the case before. Most English folk will dispair at the hotel and should avoid at all costs.

“Good location”

Stayed here for one night as it is close to the airport. Booked a junior suite and was very impressed with the accomodation. The restaurant however was awful. Very busy with people walking past and bashing into the chairs all the time. Food was overcooked and lukje warm, they even served up luke warm cabbage with the breakfast. We only stayed the one night, which is just as well, as we would not have gone down for dinner or breakfast again. We would stay again but on a room only basis.

“Certainly not a 4 star hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2011

Just came back yesterday after staying at this hotel for 8 nights. We stayed on a Dinner B/B basis. The bedroom was large and with a very large bathroom with two sinks and a hairdryer. The carpet in the bedroom was disgustingly filthy. There was a small fridge without freezer compartment that didn't work in the room and the fridge was dirty too. The AC was very noisy so had to turn it off at night.

The balcony was smallish enough but had an amazing view of the sea. We were on 4th floor, Room 426. The balcony was not great for sunbathing because instead of railings around it, it was surrounded by a wall which meant you got the sun from your shoulders up!! The weather was truly glorious but the balcony was too hot to sit out for any length of time. However, I did ask for a high floor with a nice view and got just that.

Breakfast and dinner each night was a disgrace. An exceptionally limited choice of sub-standard food. It was unbelievable for a 4* hotel. We have never experienced anything as bad and we have stayed in many hotels on a Dinner B/B basis. We are not at all fussy people. The dining room staff were indifferent. The person on reception who checked us in was very friendly.

The gardens and swimming pool areas are very nice. For the first 3 or 4 days I made up the beds but the cleaner didn't re make them as would normally be the case. Then we didn't make up the beds so the cleaner made up the beds every day after that. The cleaner seemed a bit lazy. I think we only had sheets changed once in the 8 days, but I cannot be a hundred per cent sure. The room was not hovered in the 8 days. Towels were, however, changed every day.

The hotel is in a nice area and very near La Carihuela beach. We would not go back again though, and I couldn't in all honestly recommend as it isn't worthy of its 4 star rating. A Farrell
