“Excellent service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 April 2011

We stayed in December 2010. The hotel was quiet due to the late season. We had waiter service for our evening meal with each meal cooked individually. I am a vegan but have to become vegetarian when abroad but the chef cooked a special meal for me. Waiters very attentive and service first class. Hotel clean, staff very friendly and helpful. We do tend to book independently and do favour Sol Melia hotels. We have their MAS card and now have enough points for a 5 day stay. If you obtain a MAS card it can still be used to obtain points when staying in one of their hotel chains even when booked through a travel agent. Bonus with Sol hotel chain is if you book independently you do not have to pay up front unlike some hotel chains in Spain and you can cancel your hotel online. Excellent hotel chain and website.

“A great location on the Costa del Sol”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2010

Nestled between Marbella and Malaga, the Melia is a great spot to park for a couple of days and enjoy all of the sights, sounds and flavours of the area.

“Magnifico”

The Melia is only 5-10 minutes drive from Malaga airport by taxi and is in the heart of Torremolinos. Although it is rated four-star, a five would be more appropriate. The service was first class, rooms immaculate and the breakfast was second to none, with a chef on hand to cook for your desire. It is only a stone's throw from the beach and also boasts its own swimming pool with `crystal` blue water. With an underground car park at reception level it had an exclusive entrance which gave you a welcoming feeling and made you feel at ease on entering. There is a taxi rank adjacent to the hotel which was a plus for our return journey. On the minus side, my wife and I could not fault the Melia. We would give it five!

“Nice Resort Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2009

I stayed here for two days as part of a group tour. The hotel is large and located directly across from the beach. The rooms were fairly basic, but comfortable and clean. Internet access was free. Dinner buffet was delicious with a huge variety of foods and dessert. The salads were impressive. Breakfast selection was very good, too. The pool area is fairly small, and all the lounges were snatched up early in the day. Most people go down to the beach--towels are provided by the hotel.

“Did not disappoint”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 April 2009

We found this hotel to be everything we hoped it would be.

During a visit to Torremolinos whilst staying in Malaga last November we had lunch in the cafe and were very impressed with the look of the hotel. We decided to have a holiday there in Spring and did so for 12 days end of March. The standard of this hotel is definitely equal to any other hotel of this class we have ever stayed in. In many ways better than most. The standard room is very good value for money. Cleaned thoroughly every day. Bedlinen and decor of good quality and beautiful towels, which were changed everyday . The only small complaints we had about the room was there was no tea-making facilities and that the air-conditioning/heating did not go below 21degrees. When we asked at Reception about this we were told that it was still winter and air-con would not be on for another month. This was amusing to us as the weather was very hot and sunny, most days in the high 20s. Coming from Scotland these temperatures define a heat-wave and air-con would have been good.

The public rooms are extremely spacious and the overall cleanliness is excellent. Toilets especially impressive. The dining room is large and very well organised even at weekends when the hotel was busy the breakfast arrangements ran smoothly and the service from the staff very good. The choice of food at breakfast is quite incredible, both cold buffet and cooked food of a very high standard. We did not eat dinner so cannot comment on that. We did however eat in the cafe a couple of lunch-times and evenings and overall we found the food of good quality. Again the attention to detail and the service was excellent.

Several evenings wile we were there a musical duo played keyboard and sang in the large lounge bar area. It was delightful to listen to them and watch a group of local people who came to dance to their music. The dancing was of a very high quality, mostly ballroom and flemenco adding a truly Spanish flavour to the evenings. Just off the lounge bar there is a conservatory which is the smoking area for the bar and it was delightful to sit there and enjoy the entertainment with many other smokers without discrimination as Spain has a smoking policy that allows choice.

We will return to Torremolinos and to the Melia Costa del Sol.
