Like many of the other posters I to went on an off-season short stay. What can you say? For the price we paid (£150 odd quid for flights and a 4* all inclusive 4 day break) I think it is simply unsurpassable VFM. You can quibble about 4* this and 5* that, but it is a nice hotel, that is also clean and efficient. It is centrally located and handy for everything else in the resort. Top stuff!
A couple of points picked up though.
They do indeed serve beer in (largeish) wine glasses as a rule, but if you ask for a "large" beer though, they give you it in a pint glass, I think they are just trying to prevent excess with the All Inclusivers, fair dos to that. On the plus side if you ask for a large Martell brandy - as I did, slight additional charge of 2 euros - they give you the largest balloon glass I've ever seen with what looks like a half pint measure in it. I slept well afterwards.
I'm never too convinced by the "food is disgusting and its cold" view either : it's Spain, they eat different things, and its a hot country, so they may not like food to be piping hot. Vive le difference I say. I thought the restaurant was fine and diverse, something for everyone unless your really fussy. Maybe not what you'd have necessarily ordered in a restaurant, but that is All Inclusive for you. They can't cater exactly for everyones tastes, but they get close enough.
I do agree though that the pool and its surrounding area look a bit pokey for a hotel of this size. The hotel was nowhere near full when we were there but It still looked busy. I'd imagine in peak season it could all be a bit territorial, although in their defence there is also a nice pool and lounge area on the roof.
All in all for what we paid it would be churlish to complain.
