“Very enjoyable short trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Like many of the other posters I to went on an off-season short stay. What can you say? For the price we paid (£150 odd quid for flights and a 4* all inclusive 4 day break) I think it is simply unsurpassable VFM. You can quibble about 4* this and 5* that, but it is a nice hotel, that is also clean and efficient. It is centrally located and handy for everything else in the resort. Top stuff!

A couple of points picked up though.

They do indeed serve beer in (largeish) wine glasses as a rule, but if you ask for a "large" beer though, they give you it in a pint glass, I think they are just trying to prevent excess with the All Inclusivers, fair dos to that. On the plus side if you ask for a large Martell brandy - as I did, slight additional charge of 2 euros - they give you the largest balloon glass I've ever seen with what looks like a half pint measure in it. I slept well afterwards.

I'm never too convinced by the "food is disgusting and its cold" view either : it's Spain, they eat different things, and its a hot country, so they may not like food to be piping hot. Vive le difference I say. I thought the restaurant was fine and diverse, something for everyone unless your really fussy. Maybe not what you'd have necessarily ordered in a restaurant, but that is All Inclusive for you. They can't cater exactly for everyones tastes, but they get close enough.

I do agree though that the pool and its surrounding area look a bit pokey for a hotel of this size. The hotel was nowhere near full when we were there but It still looked busy. I'd imagine in peak season it could all be a bit territorial, although in their defence there is also a nice pool and lounge area on the roof.

All in all for what we paid it would be churlish to complain.

Room Tip: Go for the sea or pool view. The pool views above the main lounge get the sun all day.

“AVOID!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

After I had booked a week in this hotel I read some bad reviews but I tend not to pay a lot of attention to them as I have found in the past they can be very inaccurate and having dealt with the public myself for over 20 years I know that some people are determined that when they go on holiday they aren't going to enjoy themselves and are just there to complain about anything and everything.
However, when I got to the hotel I soon realised that in this case the reviews were justified. The hotel itself is spotlessly clean and the room was very nice and had a great view of Malaga and the coastline. The reception staff all looked as if they were sucking lemons and were not in the least bit friendly. I had booked full board but when I saw the food I wished I hadn't booked into that hotel at all. The food was disgusting and monotonous to say the least. Any meat or fish was very tough and dry, chips were either soggy with fat or hard and crispy, salads were not fresh and actually gave me diarhoea, puddings were either watery rice pudding or watery custard or tiny little cream cakes. I ended up eating out which I hadn't budgeted for and I couldn't wait to get back home for some decent food. I normally rent a flat when in Torremolinos and the next time I go over in July that is exactly what I'll be doing. If I ever have to stay at a hotel in Torremolinos again it definately won't be this one.

This hotel is first class, staff are so welcoming and so polite.
The rooms are very clean and spacious, and the location is spot on. We were all inclusive in December.
But the best part of the Cervantes is the food, one word beautifully.Book this hotel you wont regret it trust me.We had a fantastic time, and no doubt will be back in the near future.
Keep up the good work CERVANTES.

“Ok for a short break”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We have just returned from a short break of 4 days. It was OK but only for a short break. If we had been staying longer it would have drove me mad. The only bar open constintly had Football playing..Yes I know a lot of people do like that and I'm not knocking it....but some people dont, espaically women. So it would have been nive to be able to site in the nice elaxing bar area even if the bar wasn't open but it was corned off. When we first arrive this was open for a private party then shut for the rest of the time. The food was typical all inclusive fare whihc was Ok'ish but I was unable to eat the freshly cooked meat as it was bring cooked on the same gridle as the fish and fish makes me ill. Beds were very hard. All in all Ok for a short break but not a place I woukd like to spend my main holiday. If you want a cheap transfer it's righ next to the train station, which I ndidn't knoiw until we were coming home so thats handy.

“Granddddddd Hotel Cervantes”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Just retuned from a short break 9th - 11th February at this hotel. We stayed A.I and were not disappointed from the outset. Easy check-in,wrist band given straight away, hotel overall was very clean, staff very helpful with any queries you may have, because of the time of year all facilities were not open,so can't comment on those. the pool's were both clean, the restaurant was very good with choices to suit most peoples' tastes for all sittings. One big drawback though is the food is seldom hot..........tepid - lukewarm at best. Rooms are spacious with safe (charged for) chiller cabinet, T.V only get BBC world news, beds firm and hard, balcony you can swing two cats.... Central location is ideal and transfers by train from the Airport easy peasy. A.I was very popular judging by the wristbands on view and very good value if that's your thing. All in all very welcome break with the sun to boot.

Willlllllllllllllll return..............

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are not all there're cracked up to be
