I seldom use the term excellent as a way to describe a travel experience, but in this case the word perfectly describes our four night stay at Marbella Heights. In my travels to over 60 countries I have never had a hotel experience quite like this. Not only is the property itself superb, but the warm reception and exceptionally attentive service made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Initially built in 2007 as a private residence, the hotel is located in the hills looking down on a beautiful panorama of the outskirts of Marbella and the Mediterranean Sea. Although Marbella Heights is somewhat remote, with no attractions, shops or restaurants within walking distance, that only adds to its charm and exclusivity. A car is really a necessity. The perfectly maintained and spotlessly clean hotel is furnished exclusively in furnishings and artwork from the Indonesian island of Bali. Truly unique and highly recommended.
This hotel is not for everyone. It lacks the amenities of a large, centrally located property including a bar and restaurant. But if you are looking for private luxury in a very quiet setting it is perfect. As long as you understand what Marbella Heights has to offer, this hotel lives up to its high TripAdvisor ratings.
One word of caution. On request, the hotel staff will prepare very nice meals for you in addition to the full breakfast included that is in the rate. But be sure to have an understanding of the meal price beforehand so you are not surprised, as we were, when the bill arrives.
