“Central and very friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

We stayed in August 2011 for my partners 40th birthday for 2 weeks. Doris and hubby were extremely friendly and helpful offering advice on the best restaurants in the area. The apartment we had was large and comfortable with a bedroom on the ground floor, kitchen/living room on the second floor and a lovely little outdoor terrace up another flight of stairs - I only fell (up) the stairs once! The apartment was cleaned every day, with fresh towels and the beds were changed a couple of times during our stay. Marbella old town itself is very beautiful and there are many lovely little windy streets to wander around and lots of little places to stop and have a drink or tapas. The accommodation was only a short walking distance to everything even the beach was only 5 minutes away. You could hire a sun lounger for just 5 euros each for the day, a word of warning - when the sea gets warm jellyfish come close to the shore, my partner had a very painful sting. This was a very quiet location, suited to older couples as there is little to do and it is very tranquil, I would not recommend 2 weeks here a week is enough to see everything unless you want to do day trips.

“loved it!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

Went on holiday in oct with my girl friend to old town marbella and stayed here it was very good, lovely apartments nice and traditional good size and nice and clean too. the owners were really welcoming and very helpful whenever we needed anything at all. defiantly recommend staying here if your planning a trip to marbella much better than any hotel in the area for the price range.

happy trails ;-)

“Great Place to Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2011

If you want all mod cons in a concrete hotel overlooking the beach this is not the place for you. However if you want a modest hotel in Marbella's old town, you could do a lot worse than Puerta de Aduares. The location is great, you can literally walk out the front door and you are in the old town with an abundance of restaurants and shops in a near perfect setting. Passing through a bit of the newer part of the town, the beach is at the most 10 minutes walk away as is Marbella's extensive promenade for that evening stroll before or after eating with yet even more choices of restaurant. However be warned the restaurants aren't the cheapest in Spain and the food quality is variable independent on cost or whether new or old town. Anyway back to the hotel, this is a great base and the hotel/apartments have various rooms with different amenities. We were on the top floor with a small balcony amongst the roof tops of the old town, which although did not necessarily have the most picturesque views, it felt as though you were away from it all. The sun was on the balcony all day, which during October was lovely to have breakfast out there or a quiet drink before stepping out in the evening. The room itself was very clean with clean towels etc everyday but perhaps could have done with a lick of paint. The apartment had 2 rooms one of which was the main bedroom with air con and satellite TV with all UK stations on, although we never turned it on as there Marbella has so much to offer and I watch TV at home. The other room had another bed if needed and a small table, kettle and fridge. No hotplate or cooking facilities and very minimal amount of crockery and cutlery. We had to buy a couple of dishes for for our breakfast cereal as these were missing but there was 2 plates and mugs. This is why it only scored a 4 overall. It did not bother us too much as we just ate out most of the time. Even with the apartment being in the middle of the old town there was very little noise either in the day or night. However the ultimate question is would we go back and the answer is definitely yes. The owners Dori and Jose looked after us and were very pleasant and helpful.

“Feels like staying with friends.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2011

We stayed at Puerta de Aduares for 4 nights earlier this month. Whilst we have stayed in Marbella Old Town before, this was our first time in an apartment and we very much enjoyed the extra space and convenience compared to a hotel room.
If you have a car, you'll know that parking in the Old Town is a major headache - not here! The main public car park is just at the end of the passageway and as close as you'll get to onsite parking here. We were recommended to ask for the discounted rate and parked for 5 days for 34 euro total. Not bad.
Our apartment was blessed with a lovely flower-filled balcony - great for breakfast or evening when you don't want to go out. On the downside, it was long climb up to the top floor with your luggage. The apartment was traditional and charming. It had everything you'd need - kitchen, living room, bathroom, aircon - but in small portions. The only improvement I'd suggest would be the addition of a 'safe' for your valuables.
Dori and Jose are great hosts. In fact, your hosts are a major selling point as they are so charming and helpful. I does feel like you are staying with friends.
So - would we stay again - absolutely. The price is right and the location is hard to beat. The old town is a great area. Despite the tourists and people's image of Marbella, this is a surprising taste of Spain - especially after dark. We loved it and late September/October is a great time to go.

“Feels like home / como en casa”

The apartments are in a great location in the old town of Marbella, only few minutes away from the beach. You can find excellent restaurants and very nice little shops just around the cornor. For us one of the most remarkable aspects was the excellent service that we received from Jose and Dori. They were very kind and welcomed us with a bottle of wine and some tomatos and grapes from their garden. They were very diligent and gave us great advice about where to eat, what to see (local things you cannot find in a guide) at any time and if we needed anything they resolved it immediately. Jose was always available via mobile phone.
The apartment was beautiful, clean and equipped with all you need to enjoy your stay. Personally one of the most magical moments of our stay were dinners on the terrace enjoying the folk music (Coro Rociero) played by a Hermandad del Rocio that rehearsed their songs in the patio. We had 10 wonderful days.
