“Nice hotel shame about the restaurant”

We stayed at this hotel on Saturday night. The hotel itself is nice, it has a nice indoor pool and sauna/turkish bath, the staff were friendly and the beds very comfortable. My problem was the restaurant. This is a four star hotel I do not expect to be presented with a buffet for €30 a head. The food was appaling, really not good enough. The fish and meat are cooked to order but were was the choice, and why charge so much. Most of all the sweetcorn was off. The restaurant experience really left a nasty taste in my mouth (pardon the pun) we will not be staying here again. Its also gloriously expensive (€8 for a gin and tonic).

“Great location and nice hotel but no service with a smile!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

The hotel is in a perfect position for walking to both Puerto Banus for a day/eve or for a longer walk along the beach front, to Marbella. The hotel is lovely, although first impression from the car park and entrance make it look a little run down.
However, at the rear of the hotel are beautiful grounds/pools with beds, albeit no one around to ask for cushions or towels. Don't bother asking for a sea view though like we did as its a side sea view, which actually overlooks a stagnant smelly pool of water between the sea and the hotel. We did ask to move to a pool view, which was beautiful, although ended up moving ourselves as the male hotel receptionist at the time seemed rather put out that we wanted to move from the sea view we had booked.
Given it was the week before Christmas and the hotel was virtually empty, I could not see why they were not more obliging but as we discovered in our four night stay, all of the male staff are rather grumpy, unfriendly, inattentive and miserable, especially the staff serving at breakfast in the restaurant. No "good mornings", no smiles and certainly no please and thank yous make it feel like they are very reluctant to be there serving you.
Each time I asked at the desk as to why the "free Wi-fi" was not working, I got a mere shrug of the shoulders and told it wasn't working yesterday either! The free Wi-fi by the way, only works in a certain parameter of the reception and not in the public areas as described in the hotel details.
The Sky in the bedroom is all foreign and once again we were subjected to watching BBC news or CNC the whole time we were in our room.
No tea and coffee making facilities either in the room and it seemed you had to pay to join the "privileged club" to be able to access tea and coffee in a cordoned off area called "the level" which made us feel like we were second class citizens and not respected paying guests.
If you are not bothered about service with a smile and being made to feel like you are a nuisance rather than a paying visitor then I would recommend this hotel purely for it's cleanliness, class and most importantly it's location and grounds.

Room Tip: Make sure you are overlooking the ppol/grounds and not at the back.

“Quiet & close to the beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

This hotel is easy to find, and it provides great accessibility to the A7 motorway which takes you everywhere along the coast. Its a great location for day trips to Ronda, Rock of Gibraltar, Marbella old town or Malaga. The hotel grounds are beautifully landscaped with several pools, 2 tennis courts, and a pedestrian gate to a street in the back that leads you to the beach in a very few short steps. The rooms are large and spacious, with balconies to enjoy the sun. The beds are large and very comfortable. Our room had a partial view of the Mediterranean Sea, and we were able to watch the beautiful sunrise each morning. Although the rooms have thermostats, the coolest setting (in late December) provided heat, so we opened the sliding glass door for ventilation. The hotel also has an indoor pool and sauna/steam room. Parking is free and safe directly in front of the hotel. The breakfast is very complete, and if there's something you desire that is not in the buffet, you only have to ask. The entire staff was very pleasant and helpful. The hotel is very close to the boardwalk along the beach. The area is very safe, clean and well lighted during the evening hours. Puerto Banus, shopping boutiques and restaurants are an easy walk from the hotel. There's also a very large Corte Ingles store with a gourmet grocery store. There's a pedestrian/biking bridge behind the hotel, which allows you to comfortably explore the entire coastal area on foot or by bicycle. I would not hesitate to return to this hotel.

Room Tip: Send an email to the hotel requesting a room with a partial view of the beach (no rooms have full vi...

“Fantastic comfy rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 December 2011

Whilst the rooms were really comfy and clean we were a bit disappointed by the lack of service and ammenities, At the pool area there was no one available to offfer cushions for the sun loungers , so often I had to lie on the grass! Part of the reason for picking this hotel was due to the Spa advertised, being Novemeber there was no gaurantee of sun shine. The jacuzzi was closed all week and on our last day the heated pool was not heated! Freezing! It appeared that the hotels main concern was looking after their corporate customers. The room had also been advertised as having Sat TV, however this was Spanish! This was not much use to us non Spanish speaking customers!

“Nice hotel but beware”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

We stayed for 4 nights in November and upgraded to The Level (basically executive club)at a cost of about £30 per day. Our room was large and clean, the same size and layout as others with 'added value' in a coffee machine and free internet connection.
The Level lounge was pleasant and offered coffee and soft drinks all day, with snacks at specific times. This was OK until the evening when canapes were offered between 8.00 and 10.00, when most of us are dining and the promised aperitifs, non existent. When enquiring about this, staff advised that cava, available all day, was the aperitif.
Dinner was buffet style only and rather expensive. Breakfast was good, however, each morning on entering the dining room, we were hassled by Guest Relations, manipulating the conversation to get were very disappointed that the hotel encouraged this behaviour by the staff.
In summary, B&B was fine, free parking outide the hotel was a bonus, but upgrade to The Level, an expensive waste of money. If you can get a cheap B&B deal, this hotel is a good base for a holiday on the Costa del Sol
