“WHAT A GEM”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2011

we stayed at this hotel for the new year, after reading reviews posted mid 2010 which said hotel chain in recievership we did have our concerns. We arrived at the hotel at 1.00 checkin not until 4.00pm but our room was ready and we recieved a free upgrade to a junior suite which was amazing,Hotel staff could not do enough to help.Breakfast was excellant value for money including a hot selection you could even help yourself yo a glass of champagne.Good location for Marbella old town a good 20 minwalk but public transport runs regular.Porta banus within walkin distance. Our room had a fully equiped kitchen and right next door to the hotel is a lidle store which was so cheap and good choice of food and cheap but good quality wine i would definitley stay atvthis hotel and would recommend my family and friends to do so if you visit the old town you need to eat at STUZZIKINI an italian pizza restaurant ran by a couple from SARDINIA buy ran a restauirant in London for 14 years the food and customer service was excellant

“Not 5* but a good hotel for the price paid”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2010

Having read the other reviews I was a little concerned about our stay. Our concerns were unfounded however. The reception staff arranged for our room to be ready in 45 minutes as we'd arrived so early (5 hours in fact) due to flight times. The breakfast was good although replenishment was poor at times. I was disappointed that not all of the restaurants were open, and I wouldn't recommend the restaurant in the evening, but the room was amazing for the price we paid. Good room facilities and very clean. The maid was lovely and helpful, as were all most of the staff, especially a lovely waitress at breakfast. All in all we had a lovely time and, although it wasn’t an amazing 5* hotel, we got a good deal (about 25% off brochure price) and therefore felt we’d got pretty good value for what we paid.

“As fantastic as two years ago!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2010

We encountered friendly staff and a very comfortable hotel. Excellent breakfast and nice to have your own kitchen when traveling with children. We were here two years ago and booked again because of the good memory. After having booked in August we learned that the financial situation of the hotel was not very healthy. Fortunately the hotel seems to become in better shape. We didn't notice anything about a possible financial problem. So we look back at a very nice stay and are surely willing to come back for the third time.

“Previous fears put to rest......”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2010

I have to admit that prior to arriving at this hotel, I was concerned at what I would be met with due to the negative reviews that it had previously received. However, arriving in the 2 bed family suite - it was clean and functional and well equipped. The staff were very friendly and anything asked of them was quickly responded to. There were no holey towels or ripped sunbeds or parasols and the pool was clean and clear. It was clear that the hotel was quiet - but then so was the whole area but both the breakfast and evening buffets were nice, varied and well presented. On a negative - the bathrooms and some of the furniture looks a little tired and it isnt up to the high standards of a 5* say, in the Caribbean or Metro city but during my stay they were maintaining the area and updating furniture etc. But, the price that I paid was very good and I was overall very pleased with the hotel and service that I recieved. 2 of the restaurants in the hotel are closed as are some of the shops but this really didnt affect my stay and I would suggest that with the hotel and area so quiet that it would not be profitable to have a Japanese restaurant open. I would recommend this hotel if you wanted to stay in the Marbella area.
