“Never Again”

Hotel was changed at last minute as our hotel was not opening until April, we were changed from Play Bella in Esteponia, promised upgrade didnt happen, awful rooms just down from main entrance to hotel, on main pathway, patio a joke not enough room to sit, could not opencurtains of room or patio door as people were passing by all the time, and seats right outside second room we had, people sitting all day long smoking. As for getting food ques awful one chef on cooking five main courses, fries and crepes at same time. Very little english spoken by staff in hotel. Hotel to far awaw from anywhere to walk, luckily we had hired a car. Got upgrade on 4th day, Gabriella rep was very helpful. Hotel does not cater for english speaking people at all. Bar staff were great and friendly but the only ones who were. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone unless you make sure you have room in the main hotel or room in the blocks nearer the beach and you are prepared to use the local buses to travel anywhere. Trip to Grenanda was great, we also travelled to Gibralter but only because we had car.

Room Tip: Relaxing holiday no way

Hotel badly need renovation. It is raining in a dining room as they drill holes in a ceiling. Towels on the floor. So you slalom between the puddles to save some food when the happy manager is walking in singing " doo bi doo bi doo" . Simply real Spanish atmosphere. Bad food , bad service...

“good hotel if you don't mind being in the middle of nowhere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2010

Most accommodation is composed of small Andalusian villas with a small "garden" where you can sit in the shade of a tree. The rooms were a little small but comfortable, clean and well maintained. The food , buffet style, was very good with a wide choice and a " live kitchen" where the chefs cooked meat, fish etc and served directly to your plate.
The pool was large, well maintained and cleaned every day. A lifeguard was on duty. Plenty of sun lounges were available. If sand was your thing the beach was just across the fence. There was also a childrens pool , slide and play area. For wet days an indoor pool was available.
There were daytime activities organised for the energetic and nightly entertainment in one of the two bars.
The only problem for us was the location. The hotel was about 5-6 miles from Marbella and in a quiet mainly residential area. Nothing to do or see night or day. There was one small supermarket nearby, nothing else. However a bus to Marbella runs every 30 mins and taxis are available. If you just want to sit by the pool all day and the bar at night I would certainly recommend this hotel. If you want to be in the centre of the action, shops and nightlife its perhaps best avoided.

Dear Guests,

I would like to thank you for your comments, as it is through them the best way we can improve the quality of our service, understanding the perception of our product and most important the quality and friendly service we provide.

With regard to your comment on the situation, is true, that in the zone exists a good service of buses and taxis daily, other one of the advantages which we have is the tranquility and the distance of the step of vehicles, since we are in the first line of beach.

We once again thank you and are looking forward welcoming you to any of our establishments.

Best Regards,

“hotel fine, location not ideal”

We weren't expecting luxury, and certainly this hotel is more comfortable than plush, but in many ways it provided more than wewere expecting. The facilities, the accommodation and the food were all good and better than other hotels of a similar price range. The fact it opened onto its own beach with free sunbeds was lovely, and there was always plenty of room and sunbeds around the pool. Comments others have made about the restaurant were a bit unfair. All buffet style restaurants get busy at peak times and there was always a good selection of dishes. I am vegetarian, and some of the dishes had meat in them which was annoying, but I always found enough to eat. The desserts were a bit disappointing, unless youn like milk/cream based foods. I missed the little cakes other hotels usually have, though the fresh fruit more than made up for it. We were generally very happy with the food.
The rooms were large enough with really large beds, and had good lighting for reading, which is not always the case. Our air conditioning was not working, but the overhead fan was fine for our september weather.Again, it was more comfortable than plush, but we had no complaints.
Our only gripe, and to be fair, it was something we had been told in advance, was the location. This hotel is not in Marbella. It is about 5 miles away, and sited off the main dual carriageway, so it is practically impossible to walk. We neeed to take the local bus everywhere, and this was a frustrating experience as they did not stop if already full. They were supposed to arrive every 20 minutes, but often took longer than this, so on several occasions, we had to wait for over an hour by the side of the road, with neither seating nor shade. I can't imaging how this would be tolerable in July/August.
Most people stayed in the hotel complex and for families, this was probably the ideal option. As a couple, we wanted to get out and about, and for this reason we would stay closer to the town centre if we were coming bcak.

“felt like an old folks home”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2010

just arrived back from a week at the marbella playa. the hotel was very average more a 3 star than a 4. the hotel was geared towards german and spanish guests we where the only english couple there and one irish couple. we found the hotel very isolated 6 miles from marbella and not a bar or restaurant anywere near so we had to stay in the hotel bar at night it was like spending the evening in an old folks home. if you like a pool and a beach and nothing else then this hotel will suit you.
