My wife and I took a chance on the weather and booked a week at this hotel in late October 2011. We were looking for a medium range hotel close to the beach and within easy walking distance to the Old Town. We rented a car at Malaga airport and parked it in a side street close to the hotel.
There have been lots of great reviews already written about this hotel so I have only a couple of additional observations. The hotel is downright ugly looking at it from the beach, but so what. If you lie on the beach you will be pestered by women wanting to give you a massage. In the bathroom there are door stoppers in the floor which are very painful on the feet! I ended up putting a shoe over it as a warning. The balconies on the left only get the sun up to lunch time. I think during the peak season you might have difficulties getting a bed by the pool.
So thats the negative stuff but we will come back to this hotel. Location is perfect. The Old Town is beautiful. The beach is on your doorstep. You can walk all the way to P Banus along the sea front path. But most of all the staff make this hotel special. I happened to be reading Ken Follets book Pillars of the Earth, the pool attendant was reading the same book only in Spanish. When I was returning the towels to him he noticed my book and started a really interesting discussion about the novel!
At the beginning of this review I said that we took a chance on the weather being October. Well fortunately for us the sun shone until the day we were leaving and the skies opened like a tropical monsoon. On checking out the guy on reception asked me where my car was parked on explaining that it was a few streets away he give me his own umbrella.
