We stayed at the resort from the 2nd to 5th of February. This was a fantastic getaway. The satff were very pleasant, the kids club kept the kids entertained for 3.5hrs each day. What can i say about the accomodation out of this world... Our 2 bed apartment had a sea view which was magnificient. I will defintely be going back . This is the off peak time and the resort was not too busy. Really enjoyed having 2 hrs in the family pool on our own not sure this would happen in the peak time ,

Room Tip: Room on block number 30 are closer to the family swimming pool area makes it easier if you have litt...

“Spacious, clean and comfortable apartments”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

We stayed here the first week of January. It was still quite busy with families, as Spain had two public holidays that week and obviously everyone was taking advantage of it.

We have stayed at Marriott Costa del Sol timeshares several times, and this was a typical two-bedroomed apartment. We were unable to secure a high floor with sea view (or indeed any view), but the patio was useful (especially for a smoker!) High-quality furnishings and linens, and it was great to have bathrobes and plenty of pool towels. As UK visitors, we especially appreciated the freesat UK channels.

The indoor pools were nice, although we were disappointed that the "adults-only" pool was full of children and no one seemed to police it. We didn't want to create trouble by saying anything ourselves, so were left a bit frustrated that the staff didn't enforce the rules.

The onsite supermarket was fine for initial supplies and bread/milk every day, but it is useful to have a car to visit the nearby supermarkets. The AlCampo at La Canada, about 15 minutes drive away, is a huge hypermarket with great food choices. There is also a wonderful Chinese buffet restaurant there, where you can gorge on seafood (including grilled or wok-fried shrimp and squid) for about £12 per person. We self-catered the rest of the time, so can't comment on the quality of the food at the resort. The main restaurant was closed when we were there anyway. There is a decent looking restaurant and bar just along the beach - nice for a beer at sunset.

As timeshare exchangers we had to pay for wifi access -- 39 euros the week, and it worked very well.

Room Tip: Ask for a room towards the beach end of the resort, on a high floor, for a lovely view

“It was nice to be Back”

I have been to this resort before it was last year about this same time. I do not regret being here during the slow season. It just happens I am on vacation during the month of January and this month is the slow season for Spain and Europe in general. What can I say or add to convey the pleasure me and my wife felt as we walked into an apartment fully loaded with contemporary funiture with a flat screen in every room to include the living room which had it own flat-screen tv dvd player and stereo system. This two bedroom apartment had a kitchen with dishwasher, refrigerator, coffeemaker, microwave and toaster. Plenty of pots and pans, basically a full kitchen. Living room area a sofabed, coffeetable, endtables, lamp, etc. The balcony had its own table and chairs in the events guests would want to sit, relax and eat outside. Washer and dryer free of charge and they even include the soap for the washer and the kitchen. The apartment was spacious enough to fit in 6 people living under one roof. The guest room had it own private bathroom with shower. There is a charge for internet of 39 euros for one week. I ask the check-in clerk about me being a repeated customer and this seemed to work because I was given two passcodes for my laptop and Ipad. As far as the tv programing goes, the first 12 or 13 channel are British from there the rest of the channels are in different languages all the way up to channel 50 where it starts with Spanish programming. The heated pool is open from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Locker rooms are equipped with a steam room and a sauna as well with lockers to place your valuables when you are using the pool or the gym. For those who enjoy working out and keeping in shape they have a gym fully equipped nothing as close to the LA Fitness that I have back home, however the equipment is only a year old (remember I was here last year when they were remodeling) and you are sure to get a workout with the weight tranning or with cardiovascular equipment: Treadmills, Elliptical, bycicles, etc. Warning for those who rent vehicles: parking in the parking structure it could be difficult and even dangerous. Whoever designed the parking had to be on drugs. There is only just enough clearance to pass through the supporting beams which are in the middle. Have you ever heard "Do not drink and Drive?" well this is a situation where do not want to go out on a weekend and have some drinks and attempt to park your car in this weird parking structure. Finally, the staff were very professional and helpful at all times. I will most definitively return to Marriot Marbella.
Tip: Please go to the Flamenco Show offered in the of Mijas on Wednesday. It is Free!

Room Tip: Be patient and courteous with the check-in clerk and they will bend backwards to make you feel at ho...

“Great family resort- not for party people.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

I was 27 and my buddy was 31, we stayed there for 3 nights and have a comfortable stay. Hotel was very clean, and the staff was very courteous.

However, we we're by far the youngest there, aside from the children.

This is a family resort, do not expect to meet anyone in the 20-35 year old range. There is simply none. The whole theme of the resort is to accommodate family, and they do succeed very well at this.

The rooms are very spacious and luxurious. The beds we're very comfortable and we slept like babies. No disturbing noise, and with the curtains closed, you can sleep forever!

The hotel is a long ride from Puerto Banus (where all the action is) and it did cost us 30euros each time to go, and 30euros to come back. Which is quite annoying.

The hotel restaurant was closed for winter time, and the "Chillin Grill Bar" was very plain and lacked good food. The food was under average, and we did not appreciate our meal there. However they have a small marketplace where they sell tasty sandwiches and that made-up for the lack of food on-site.

All in all, satisfied. Wouldn't go back again. However I would recommend to families with children or senior citizens.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony on the side of the sunlight during the day, for tanning : )
