11 Oct 2009 | Trip type: Family

We stayed from Sat August 15-Mon August 17 2009. This was the last leg of our Spain vacation ( rented appts in other cities) as our flight was leaving on the 17 of August. The hotel is located in a very nice pedestrian street, near great stores (closed during the Feria week-ends). You need to park at the marina parking garage if you insist on a car, the walk is short to the hotel. We arrived in Malaga by car, registered to the hotel and decided to return the car at the airport ( returned by bus, good service). That saturday was the opening week-end of the Feria de Malaga and the main street leading to the hotel is where all the festivities during the day take place (until 18:00h) After that time, there will still be plenty of people in the streets but the noise goes down and there is absolutely no problem at night to sleep. It is very colorfull, packed with people .If you are going during the Feria, because of the initial walk to the hotel with luggage etc, we would recommend that you do not register later than 13:00h, after that time, the streets become a bit dirty... Anyway the hotel is on a small street so it is a little oasis in the Feria. The crowd can be very loud but the fun is there, people are dancing, music is playing so go sit at a terrace, have a 'tinto de verrano' and enjoy!. If you want to stay in your room during daytime, you will not be disturbed by the noise too much. The hotel is nicely appointed. we had a family room (rare in Europe) which sleeps 4. Very nice bathroom, free internet and computer in room (perfect for teenagers).Breakfast is availble for 10E (buffet but with good selection of fruits, cereals, yogurt + hot choices)
We did not attempt going at the evening Feria activities as the people at the desk did not recommend it ( too much of a crowd, far from the hotel). The Sunday was for touring and we had plenty to do as the hotel is in the center of the historic district. Although we did not go, the beach is fairly close and accessible to all.

We stayed in this hotel for three nights. Situated at the top of Calle Larios, the main shopping street in Malaga, it is close to Plaza de Constitution and minutes from cathedral.
We were on fourth, top floor, room was massive with view through window onto plaza.
Agree TV has no English channels and beds are a bit on hard side but the situation is excellent, just yards from Calle Grenada where many great tapas bars are situated. Buffet breakfast is just 7 euros and was excellent. This is the third petit palace have stayed in, others being Barcelona (Opera) and Seville (Canalejas), but this was the best so far.

Recently stayed in this hotel which although in a good position should not have 4 stars.
The room was small and with a very awkward pillar next to one of the twin beds(which were pushed together ) making getting in or out of that bed very difficult. No bedside lamp was provided. The orange decor reminded us of a particular budget arline!
The bathroom allegedly had a hydro massage shower but this proved to be inadequate (positioned so only our faces were massaged). There was nowhere in the bathroom to put any personal items and the ameniies provided were very poor. Surprisingly there was not even a box of tissues. No tea/coffeee making facilities in the room.
Reception informed us that tea/coofee, water, juices were available in the business area but that was not the case on either the Saturday night or the Sunday morning.
The buffet breakfast was adequate but no more. The choice of cereals being coco pops or coco pops.
The bedroom was not as clean as it should have been as there were long dark hairs on the bathroom floor and although tables were reset at breakfast the tables still had crumbs on them.
We have stayed in better equipped 2 star hostelas in Spain.

This hotel is in such a lovely part of malaga - ideal location for restaurants and nightlife. So many little side streets to explore and enjoy coffee, wine, ice-cream, tapas...!

HOTEL: We were put into a dreadful room to start with - stank of smoke despite the grumpy receptionist insisting it was non-smoking- however they moved us the next day into a very well appointed room - very clean and excellent air-con. Laptop in the room was useful for researching where to go out. The other receptionists were much more friendly- just our luck to encounter the nasty one!

BEACH: short walk through the town - not the nicest sand but a great beach none the less. nice promenade. had a few good days swimming in the sea.

Great location....right beside the cathedral. RIght in the middle of the shopping district, bars, and Feria Grounds (mid august). Parades often go right past it for the Semana Santa festivities (which is one of the best in Spain). Each room has a laptop computer (I have never seen that offered in a hotel anywhere). The decoration was slightly annoying being that everything was orange and black, but the location and ammenities more than made up for that. It seemed to have a mission of being eco friendly as well, sky lights were used in the lobby and lighting throughout the hotel used motion sensors. The bathtub was a jacuzzi which also had a color changing light show in the water.
