“Very Basic Accomodations!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 April 2007

Please be advised!!
This is a basic apartments and definitely DOES NOT merit silver crown from RCI.
The apartments are clean and the staff very friendly and helpful.
The pools are barely heated and jacuzzi not hot. For the indoor pool, need to purchase bathing caps for 6 euros(bring your own).
The beds were surprisingly comfortable. The kitchen very old looking. You need to pay for your electicity and your safe per day. No dryer , so everyone hangs their clothes outside.
Strong , good water pressure and hot water available all the time.
If you were lucky to get a sea front, then your trip and cost would be worth it, just maybe.
The shuttle does not run on weekends , the kids club maybe one or two organized activities a day for about 1-2 hours.

If i had very little money to spend on vacations I still would not stay here, because the area is cheesy with small bars and pubs down the main side street and there are way too many other places to stay in Spain.
We left this resort after a few days and checked into the Marriot which may not have had the great service as Club Marbella, but was beautiful.

“First Class!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2007

We stayed at the Club Calahonda from 27th Dec til 3rd Jan this year. Everything was 1st class, heated outdoor pool which the kids and adults loved, tennis courts and small gym. Apatments very clean and sheets and towels changed every 3rd day, 2 toilets with showers, a washing machine and a DVD player also heaters for the time of year as it could get cold at night. We could also use the facilities at nearbye Club Marbella which was a 5-10 minute uphill walk. The restaurant facilities at both hotels were excellent tho we tended to go mostly to the Marbella as there was more for the kids to do in the evening.
We spent Hogmany at a nearby pub and a great time was had by all.
Overall a 1st class holiday and we are planning to go back next New Year.

  • Liked — Cleanliness and heated outdoor pool
  • Disliked — Cat strolling in gardens!!
  • Tips/Secrets — Don't take too much clothes washing machine and washing tablets provided also outdoor dryer with pegs!!

“Beware when you book”

Quick review. We booked Crown Resorts as appeared a fantastic venue, well placed and with much to do with small children (have 3). Unfortunately we were allocated into the most basic of the 5 properties which only had small unheated swimming pool (too cold for my children). Mini gym onsite but we did not see so cannot review. No shops nearby. Apartments were good sized and ok. We had to walk (10 minutes) or travel by bus or other to get to the other properties although there is a small courtesy minibus. The other properties have better facilities (eg Deltamar which was nearest to us). Check in at night is to a different reception and very confusing and inconvenient. Please clarify which property you are in to avoid dissapointment. We personally would not return here.

  • Liked — Good sized.
  • Disliked — Location.

“5 clubs but not all the same”

Booked this holiday with Expedia and we were disappointed to be placed in club Caronte. This is situated at the top of quite a steep hill & although there is a supermarrket about 15 minutes walk away, and restaurants 10 minutes walk away, it feels like longer. There is nothing apart from a pool and a few sun loungers, and a small gym. The bus is an advantage and takes you to a large supermarket and a good beach -cabopino- but does not run many times a day & not at all at weekend.
The apartments are large & clean and the area is very quiet. It is unfortunate that this is let down by the lack of facilities.

“Not what expected”

We booked crown Resorts Malaga with Expedia and based on the great reviews we read on here. Crown resorts, Malaga is indeed made up of 5 resorts (Caronte, Delta Mar, Marbella, Calahonda and Riviera) although they are not what I would class as within close proximity. Sadly for us we (a family of 2 adults and 3 small children) were put in Club Caronte and as our arrival was at night time we had to first go to Club Marbella and then to Caronte (a good distance apart and down a motorway too!). Club Caronte, whilst having good clean and well sized apartments is the only resort not to have a heated swimming pool (so the kids couldn't use it as it was too cold). It has a small gym (we never saw this) and that is it. no other amenities. No supermarket, bar or anything! We therefore had to travel daily to Club Delta Mar (10 minute walk up and down hill-not suitable for people with mobility problems or a pushchair). There there is a pool bar open until 6pm, heated pool (it was a nice pool), mini gym and internet facility. No kids club at present, anyone wanting Kids Club has to travel to Club Marbella. Yes there is a free minibus which runs half a dozen times a day, it will take you around the 5 resorts, to the supermarket and the beach but does not run on weekends, finishes 4pm Mon-Fri with just two runs in the evening. Linen is changed midweek (so they say) but we were there Weds-Monday and did not get an interim linen change. Satellite TV was good with a variety of English home channels to choose from and we had a DVD player. In a nutshell, if you are booking Crown Resorts, try and establish which of the venues youwill be in because if it is Club Caronte, you will feel like a very poor relation to those that are in the other 4 resorts.
