The resort is tired and definetly not up to standard. The cutlery is mismatched, towels as thin as tissue paper, the whole resort smells old and the furniture is dirty and tatty.

I booked my stay through the Armed Forces Vacation Club website, which is affilated with Wyndam Worldwide. I received an awesome 7-night deal at a really low rate at the Crown Resorts Club Calahonda location. When I arrived to check in, the receptionist said she did not have a reservation for me. My heart skipped a beat and I handed her my reservation voucher. She again confirmed that my reservation was not in her system, but assured me that there was no problem and that my reservation would be honored. The next morning I stopped by the front desk and I was told by the receptionist at Club Calahonda that all was resolved, and that my reservation was honored, with no unexpected costs or surprises. The staff were very courteous and helpful during this experience, which was very much appreciated.
Club Calahonda, although away from the beach, was still a great location, as the neighborhood is quiet, yet it is within a five-minute walk from a small shopping center with a good supermarket (superSol) and a friendly internet cafe (the hotel internet, while convenient, was expensive). The apartment was very clean and very spacious. There were a lot of English-language (mainly British) TV channels. We were on the third floor with a sea view. There are no elevators. Club Calahonda only had an outdoor pool, but it was heated during our visit in April. While staying at a Crown Resorts property, you can use the other clubs' facilities as well, and Club Marbella (with an indoor pool) was about a ten-minute walk away.
We would definitely stay there again, although I reccomend calling the property direct to confirm reservations.
We were 4 families with four 2-bedroom units. The resort is conveniently located within easy reach of Marbella, Puerto Banus, Benalmadena, Fuengirola, Torremolinos - all within a half-hour drive.
The staff at the reception was very helpful guiding us and giving us driving directions for all the local attractions.
The resort has a very good swimming pool, another indoor pool and also jucuzzi, steam & sauna.
My husband & I stayed @ the Crown Marbella 23-30 May 10. Staff was very nice and helpful (ask for Simon). Our room had all we needed and was very clean and spacious. The resort was much smaller than I pictured. Great place for families with kids. We did not use the pool and hot tub, too many kids. Restaurant was ok. Shuttle service was good. Took the city bus, which I highly recommend if you don't have a car. Shuttle or walk to bus stop (.5 mile down hill). Not much to do at the hotel at night, go to Marbella (my favorite section, quaint & Ritzy) or Fuengerola or Torrenlion (spelling??). Shoe shopping is fantastic for woman!! Did only 1 organized tour to Morocco; it was ok, didn't offer enough time to shop. Rented a car Thurs-Sun through resort, great deal, unlimited miles, and free return to airport on Sun, saved taxi fare. Drove to Ronda, great town, VERY curvy roads, and VERY high elevation, we recommend. Drove to Portugal (Faro), about 5 hours, easy drive, left at 6am arrived by 1130. Stopped in Tavira (south of Faro) on way back, take ferry to beach, a MUST!!. Also stopped in Seville, next trip to Spain, will spend more time in Seville, loved it, lot of nightlife, younger crowd. Spent 3 nights in Madrid. What can I say, city life, great metro system, no need for car, stayed in hostal Mirentxu near SOL, excellent location and service (see review on hostal). Costal de Sol is a beautiful area we had a wonderful vacation!
Stayed here with my girlfriend for one week on ALL Inclusive, found the hotel brilliant. The staff were all very polite, and would not hesitate to go out of their way to help you. The room was fairly basic but had everything we needed. I would recommend going all inclusive as drinks seemed expensive in the resort. There was always things going on and the staff trying to involve everyone however they respected people who didn't want to take part. The grounds were amazing and always clean.
The food was basic however there was a good choice and something for everyone EVERY NIGHT, I would just advise that if you want to sit alone let the staff in the resturant know otherwise they will put you on a table right on top of others.
The hotel is right next to the (30secs walk)strip which has many bars restaurants and shops on. There is also bus stops along this road which go to paphos that go by every 10-15 minutes.
ALL around a great place to stay i couldn't recommend it any more. We already plan to return next year.
