Beeing a part of Sol/Melia hotel chain rates are a bit on the expensive side. The Tryp city hotels differs in standard, and I found the Tryp Alameda in the top end.
Located in the residential part of Malaga, a few mins. to the trainstation. A bit further for the busstation. A walk to the center will take you approx. 15-20 mins. Directly connected to a shoppingmail for retailtherapy, eating and entertainment. If you need the touristbus its just in front of the central train staion a few minutes walk from the hotel.
The hotel has a good and relaxed ambience, staff friendly and helpful and it offers a bar and restaurant. Breakfast (included in my rate) was great, plenty to choose from and friendly offers to toast the croissants.
My room was a doubleroom, plenty of space and storage. Bed comfy with clean and crisp linnen, aircon worked perfectly, telly has several english, german, italian and spanish channels. minibar. Large bathroom with toiletries and huge towels.
Only bad thing for this hotel is that wifi is only available at a fee- which does not fit a business hotel in 2011.
If you expect to stay in the centre of the city then you might look for another hotel, I did not find it a problem though. I would stay there again without any doubts.
