“Sun and charm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2009

Albero Lodge is a wonderful small hotel, very tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal. We spent most of the days at the nearby beach and had very pleasant times at the hotel pool too enjoying the sun that never leave that land.
The area is full of restaurants and "chiringitos" and the charming hotel director help us to choose some of them where we experienced the most authentic Spanish gastronomy and wines.
We loved our room, Madras, and we will definitely come back again to try other rooms like the amazing suite Fez.
Overall a very good value&quality for the price.

“Unique, well worth the seeking out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 June 2009

The Albero Lodge Hotel is worth the frustration of trying to find it. It doesnt help that the maps drawn by the Hotel arent accurate. But once behind the doors, all will pale into insignificance as the place is truly beautiful. Each of the 9 rooms has been tastefully decorated to reflect the decor in different countries, and well done, which isnt easy. The staff are very helpful, and keep the gardens, pool and rooms very neat and tidy. It's a gem amongst the high rise conglomeration just a mile away. You would need to phone when approaching to be guided in. The propietor needs to update her information pack, the restaurants etc., are not open until June and so you do need a car to get out. The track down to the beach is dirty and needs tidying up, but once you get alongside the Villacana Time Share complex you can cut through the beautiful grounds. The beach is part shingle and part sand, not the best and the sea is invariably rough. The Heaven Bar is not next door as maps show, but indeed a good 6 or 7 minute drive, once you have negotiated the dried up river bed which is the best way there. Careful there, drinks are wildly expensive but the lunchtime flamenco dancing has to be paid for some how ! The other restaurants mentioned in the Information Pack are on the A7,next to the motorway is not our idea of a relaxed evening meal venue. But that beside, it is a beautifl hotel, and worthy of support. Not madly expensive either, but breakfast at Euro 10 is a bit expensive as its cake and toast. An omlette would have been nice ! I would definitely return though, its very lovely and nothing is too much trouble for staff or owner.

The Hotel A lbero Lodge is in the area of “Playa Sol villacana” inside the Urbanization Park Beach (Cancelada - Estepona).
This urbanization is on the sea side and very easy to find since its entrance in the same National coast road A7 in km 164.5
Driving towards Marbella just after the “Hotel Las Dunas” you will see the sign “River Guadalmansa”. It is necessary to take inmediatly the next service road, the second street on the right is the entrance of Park Beach resort and the first street to the left is the Tamesis street in nº 16 is located the hotel.
Realizing a reservation with us, all our guest receive an access map and very precise indications of how to arrive.
Whenever our clients have followed our advice they do not have any difficulty to find us.
In addition always we are to its disposition to guide them by telephone.
It is necessary to understand that the majority of small & Charming hotels are situaded in a private area very appreciated by our guests.

Our breakfasts are served at the hour wished in rooms, terraces, garden or pool.
It is an advantage very appreciated by the client. Albero Lodge Lodge wants to emphasize the style Andalusian of our region and in Andalusia the typical breakfast is bread, tomato and very characteristic and healthful extra olive oil virgin within the Mediterranean Diet. One completes with hot drinks like coffee, tea, milk, chocolate, cereals, juice of orange, yogurt, variable baker's cakes, jams and butter.
At the request of the clients we can offer other options.
They only need to go at reception and request it. The subject of the breakfast with eggs (typical of the Anglo-Saxon countries) we do not do it because he is not representative of the breakfast Andalusian and thought that to discover a region it implies to prove its specialties.

Each room has a information book indicating the restaurants, clubs of beach, chiringuitos, bars of covers and commerce near the hotel. These information are updated and classified by zones. All the restaurants have indicated their telephone and day of closing or season. There are many restaurants near the hotel & the national road who we indicated to them but also we recommended other options of charming gastronomy in Estepona, Cancelada, Puerto banus, Marbella and in the white Benahavis and Casares Villages

“Lovely”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2007

So charming! We stayed in the Florencia room and our friends stayed in the Deuville room. I definitely preferred our room. We saw most of the other rooms out of curiosity and they were so cool. Our room was beautiful and we were so comfortable. Nice outdoor seating area outside of our room. Spent the day and evening on the nearby beach. Sand is dark and will BURN your feet. Make sure you bring beach shoes that aren't so flimsy. Beautiful mountain view from the beach. Packed a lunch from a hearby supermarket and had the best day at the beach. Just extremely hot, not a cloud in the sky and not much shade to be found. At night, hung out on one of the patios by the hotel pool, chatting with friends. Made for very pleasant memories.

“Nice, but remote”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2006

This is a charming small hotel. Stayed in the 'Djerba' room which is a private room on the first floor balcony. Room was a good size and comfortable. I'd say it is one of the better rooms as it is private and quiet. The staff were very charming and helpful. They will serve you breakfast wherever you like until 12am! Very civilized indeed.

To stay here, you'll need a car and want to escape from the bustling life of Costa del sol. However, watch out, as it's very difficult to find! As other posters said, the directions from the hotel are very unclear. When heading from Malaga, keep on the AP7 highway heading for Algeciras, then after Marbella, change for the A7 heading for Algeciras or Estepona (do not go into Peurto Banus (ever!) keep on this highway, pass the marriott on your right. Slow down a little, pass the exit called 'Cancellada'. drive a little slower and it is the next exit, about 1/2km after Cancellada. There are no signposts on this exit, but after you turn in, you will see the signs for Albero lodge. Another landmark is a GARDEN CENTRE sign on the roof of a garden centre in big green capital neon letters, come off the highway when you see this, if you pass it, come off on the next exit and cross over the highway and drive back towards Malaga, enter the small side road, the entrance to the hotel is just at the entrance for 'beach park' apartment complex.

Another tip - make sure your room has a plug in mosquito killer, otherwise.....

I think this is a nice place, but remote and everything is a car ride away. Good if you are familiar with Spain and driving in Spain.

Final tip, try a trip or 1/2 nights at Ronda. 80 mins drive from the Albero lodge, but a lovely charming blast of the traditional Spain, without being too touristy.

  • Liked — Wi-fi and internet access, very friendly staff
  • Disliked — very difficult to find and a car ride to everything

“really dissapointed!”

arrived at albero lodge for a much needed break, very dissapointed! totally misrepresented on the map on the alberos web site. at least a 10 minute walk to the beach,it was filthy with huge piles of domestic rubbish. heaven is also shown near to albero lodge and this was also a car ride away. the room we were in was deauville, very small and we could only get one person at atime in the bathroom. the room is very badly decorated, changing rooms more like.the room looked out to the garden but unless you had the curtains closed you had very little privacy from other guests walking past. the pool was ok but only 4 loungers for up to 18 guests.breakfast was extra 3.50 euros per day, no choice but good value. tried to book into other hotels but after hours on the net reluctantly decided to stay and make the most of it. spent most days at the beach bar heaven but we didnt expect to be driving every day.

  • Disliked — dark, badly decorated, too far from everything
