“Beware. Not that good... and full of wimps”
Well, first of all, in this resort we have to talk about two (very) different acommodations: the, let's say, pure hotel rooms, and the apartments/villas or whatever name you want to use for them. The place, originally a three star, was given the fourth some two years ago when the hotel rooms were added, and I don't know why, because it was exactly by then when it all began to go down the spout. It always happens when a place loses its exclusiveness (although it's not clear for me that this resort had it at any point in time). The high quality of the new rooms (to be honest, really clean, deluxe, comfortable rooms) and the beautiful surrounds (garden, pool, snack bar and so on) are not arguments enough to forget about the terrible apartments. For a start, avoid taking off your shoes if you haven't got a clean towel to put on your feet, or you'll see what a big crust of filth they will develope in case you place them directly on the floor. Horrible.
Another desolating part of the apartments are the bathrooms: it depends upon your luck's mood of that day if you get a more or less ok one, or if you are about to suffer a "not-so-good" odor (quite familiar sometimes unfortunately...) that will make you think the last guests have tried to leave you their "not-best" regards in the WC. And what can we say about the prices?. Absolutely outrageous, and the worst part of all is that is really easy to realise that what you're given is not worth the 10% of the money you pay for it. But one thing is true: if you love posh-friendly places, sixteen year-old guys driving daddy's car, high hipocrisy level, and so on, you will push like mad for it, and you will avoid the apartments paying an even higher price for one of the new hotel rooms, or you'll even give up the terrible state of the apartments instead. I definitely won't put a cent on it. I find it a quite unpleasant atmosphere... but it's your choice.

Dear Net-Travelers, We have attentively read the communication from an unknown traveller who refers to our hotel, Los Jándalos, in El Puerto de Santa MarÃÂa. We are understand and are sorry this persons stay has been so frustrating, but we must take a stand in our defence at these accusations, which to our understanding are misdirected, and have nothing to do with the reality of our hotel. Certainly our institution is not perfect, but the description in this anonymous post is unfair. Visitors to Spain know there is important legal protection and due process for any supposed abuse or disservice to the customer, protection that immediately works if the customer proceeds with the most minimum claim. It is also well known, even by the most inexperienced traveller, that any complaint or concern may be addressed to the hotel receptionist or manager, who are always available, such as in our Hotel Los Jándalos. This is the first time in twelve years in the hotel business that anyone has expressed negativity concerning their stay at our hotel under the guise of anonymity. Common knowledge suggests the biggest accusations and defamations in history have been made from anonymous persons. One last request, for your tranquillity, and if you desire truth, please visit our web-site. You will find our professional and elegant facilities at your disposal, and information concerning our rates, which are published for common knowledge. Enrique Fdez. de Bobadilla y L.Director
