“The Best Hotel in the last 10 years of Society Golf”

I have been organising golf holidays for the last 10 years and , without a doubt, this is the best hotel pound for pound, that we have found. We played courses several miles from the resort, I understand that the local courses are very good, and found them excellent. Arcos Gardens, Montecastillo and Sherry Golf are fabulous. We will return, which is very rare with my group.

“A gem of a hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 March 2008

We stayed at the Barrosa Park hotel for a week in March and loved every minute of it. The hotel, imaculately clean and located on one of the most beatiful beaches in the region, is run by knowledgeable, courteous and exteremely helpful staff. Its amenities include a gorgeous indoor pool, a gym, a large outdoor pool (which we didn't try because it was too cold), and a bar that stretches into the garden. Food was excellent, both for breakfast and dinner, and they had plenty of good stuff to eat for our 18-month-old son. The hotel is children-friendly _ we saw several couples with very small babies _ yet it is big enough for other guests not to have to listen to your baby screaming. Barrosa Park is within 30 minutes' drive of the beautiful towns of Vejer and Medina Sidonia, both well worth visiting, and only 40 minutes by car from Cadiz and Jerez, making it an ideal base for day trips if it gets too windy or cold (which it does quite often at this time of the year). All in all, we found our stay extremely relaxing and will definitely come again.

“Wow! What a Hotel”

We went to the Barrosa Park with PC Promotions in Ireland and we had a ball from start to finish. The hotel is excellent with great facilities and the staff are brilliant. Anything you needed was catered for. The only downside to it is because of the vast array of food at dinner time, its hard to know what to choose!!!
Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Spain

“A little part of Germany”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 March 2007

We have taken our Winter break in this part of Spain for over ten years now and love it ,especially the beach, the golf and the climate. This is the 1st time we've stayed at the Barrosa Park and did so purely on the recommendations on TripAdvisor. So, briefly, in our opinion the buffet breakfasts and dinners were excellent. The Hotel certainly 4*. But we would never return. As with all hotels in the area the 2nd language is German - for obvious reasons. If you are a 'Basil Fawlty' then this part of Spain is NOT for you. We've always tried to excuse their lack of manners saying it's just the way they are, but in truth, a great number of them are downright rude.Q is just another letter of the alphabet to them.

Onto the rooms. Ours was sandwiched between 2 floors. Above us a visiting team of German footballers and below us the same. (most hotels on this stretch accommodate large groups of footballers). They were by no means lager louts but were certainly noisy and after the 1st night we asked for a room change. This was an improvement and, we subsequently found out, where most of the Germans are automatically roomed. But as with the 1st room, it totally lacked sound proofing. Not only could we hear the toilets around us being flushed, we could hear the REASONS they were being flushed. The floors are tiled, not carpetted,so every single sound carried, chairs being moved, footsteps, blinds being drawn, lights switched on and off. We've never been intimidated by German tourist but over the years their numbers have increased and we have now, sadly, decided to look for pastures new for our Winter Break.

  • Liked — Location on the beach. The buffet breakfasts and dinners.
  • Disliked — Imbalance of tourists from other parts of Europe. Lack of soundproofing in the bedrooms

“Fantastic hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2006

Beautiful hotel in a mainly Spanish resort. Visited August 2003 via Thomas Cook.

Food, room, pool all excellent, one night a week excellent array of seafood on the buffet - one of the highlights.
There is a bus takes you round the resort and into Chiclana - from which you can get a bus to Jerez and Cadiz.
Also excellent for trips to Cadiz and Jerez. Get a detailed guidebook because its worth seeking out the best sights, restaurants and tapas bars.

Seville is worth a trip but the day trip isn't worthwhile - we booked car hire and 2 nights in a hotel online to make the most of it.

The other great thing is that you fly into Jerez which is very quiet - some cheap flight operators fly into Jerez, so it might be worth considering flight plus your own car hired from the airport.

There are several hotels along the beach, all 4 star at least, all with entertainment.

The shopping complex along the beach serves the villas behind the beach front. It is lively at night with families shopping and eating.

This hotel is one of four placed together and having visited all four, would say is best position and value - one isn't on the beach, one is very quiet - the palace hotel is better for couples, this one is the one for families.

We have friends who have stayed at Riu Chiclana and enjoyed that hotel too.

I'd love to go back for a short break but am having problems finding a british travel agent/brochure that includes it.

  • Liked — Great location and excellent hotel in every respect
  • Disliked — Can't find it in any brochures any more!
  • Tips/Secrets — If you are prepared to try visiting local sights by yourself, get here, don't come if you want a hotel full of English. There'll be some, but not many.
