“Warm, even in January”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

This a large efficiently run hotel (the dining room seats 650 people) separated from the beach by sand dunes, the bedrooms are large and comfortable and unusually for Spain have excellent bedside lights. The meals are all buffet style, but as there are so many guests the food does not hang about too long to get overcooked as so often the case, also there is always fish and meat being freshly grilled. The dining room is noisy it is difficult to hold a conversation and, as all the public areas are open plan there is nowhere you can sit quietly after dinner.

Dear guest,
First of all we would like to thank you for your stay in our Iberostar Hotel Royal Andalus and for your dedicated time to write your kind comment about our hotel.

Please receive our most sincere apologies for mailing to meet your expectations, we are profoundly sad to know that a guest doesn´t have a nice and relaxing holiday.

We are glad to read that you had a warm holiday in January. We had in Spain an unusual cold Siberian weather during mores less 2 weeks, with snow also on the beach.

Yours sincerely

“A pleasant, relaxed stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

We stayed here for four weeks, almost the whole of January, with SAGA and had a good time.

SAGA had obviously negotiated a very good deal with the hotel, and the holiday was enjoyable and good value. The Royal Andalus has all you would expect from a seaside four star hotel.

The hotel is one of sixteen built as a new resort in the last twenty years, but being midwinter almost all the other hotels were closed, as were most of the shops, giving the neighbouring shopping centre rather a ghost town feel.

As has been mentioned, most of the other guests were German (mainly golfers) or Spanish families at weekends. The SAGA contingent cut rather a dab and shabby presence in contrast. Some were seriously obese. But some were brighter and could speak passable Spanish (better then our holiday Spanish and German). We (just) managed to find bridge and Scrabble partners and even a fellow football fan. Also quite a few of us went to the local RC church where there was an "international service" each Sunday and Anglicans semed to be allowed to take the Sacrament.

The staff were friendly and efficient. You could eat what you wanted from the excellent buffet and when you wanted within dining room opening hours. There was a good programme of activities run by the hotel during the day (boules, crazy golf, archery, croquet, darts, rifle shooting etc) and evening entertainment too. The outdoor swimming pools were very extensive and the Atlantic beach fabulous: long and sandy. But it was too cold to swim. The indoor pool was a bit small and liable to be crowded, because of limited opening hours. Apparently the golf courses around the hotel were very good.

This is a well-run, friendly and efficient hotel. Also we were lucky with the weather.

“Christmas 2011”

My wife and I recently returned from the Royal Andalus having spent Christmas there. The Hotel and it's staff, from chambermaid to the Hotel Doirector were first class. The bedroom was perfect with a view of the sea only 150mtrs away. day was fwonderful with the sun shining When you come to the Gala Dinner on Christmas eve, well to say the least the Champagne reception with a fantastic variety of canopie was first class, then it was into dinner which of course was buffet style, now we have been on many cruise ships that did not have food as good as this, there was everything you could wish for from various fish dishes to meats of all kinds, the desserts were outstanding. Walking along the beach on Christmas day was wonderful with the sun shining and everyone happy.
Do not hesitae with this hotel, we are regular Iberostar clients and this is the bes Hotel for buffet food we have stayed in. Hope all the other Iberostar are aiming for this standard.
Thank you to all at the Royal Andaluz

Room Tip: Ask for a front sea view, it's worth the extra

“Impressed with Iberostar”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

We stayed here for two nights. We got a very warm welcome from reception staff with a glass of orange juice complimentary which we thought was a lovely touch. Staff had a good knowledge of english. The hotel was very impressively done up for Halloween and the staff all wore costumes. The dining room was spectacular. Really well decorated. My seven year old daughter loved it. She wanted to stay two extra nights. What we were most impressed with was the food in this hotel. It was so tasty and full of variety, not like mass catering at all. We were spoilt for choice. There was also a concert on our second night with a lovely vocalist and very good dancers all dressed in Halloween costumes. They marched around the bar and dining area to alert people that the concert was about to start. You couldn't but participate in the fun. Atmosphere was really good. Thumbs up for this hotel.

Room Tip: Make sure to ask for a sea view. There are plenty and it made such a difference to us

Returned from Royal Andalus after a two week stay as Saga guest and had a good time if a little windy some days. Food good with plenty of choice. Saga rep not as helpful and interested in her guests as other Saga reps I have met, but this did not spoil holiday as a good group.
