“Great Location- would love to return in hot season- but not a 5 star”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2011

Lovely location on the beach. In fairness we came in December when it was off season and the outddor pools were too cold for use- it would be good to return and avail of the lovely outdoor pool.
The only indoor pool is in the spa and not for kids under 16 so not ideal for those travelling out of season with kids who like a pool.
The restaurants seemed too dear for families with children (30 euros for buffet for kids- too much for a 5 year old), so we availed of the bar food instead- which was good as was breakfastp- absolutely every taste catered for.
Our room was good- however there is general feel that it doesnt feel like a five star (compared to other 5 star hotels we have stayed at)- just lacks that finish/ opulence/ corridors a bit dark. Or perhaps its just quite traditional rather than modern/ boutiquey... However, attentive service, friendly capable staff and all in all a lovely break off season.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for your review regarding your recent stay in our hotel.

We are really disappointed to learn that our hotel did not meet your expectations. We can assure you that we will review all issues that you have mentioned and we will take the appropriate measures to raise our standards in the future.

We would like to apologise for the fact that you found some rules of access in our Spa. It is a pleasure to inform you that children between 10 and 16 years old can have access to the Spa provided that they enter the Spa in the company of an adult, who is responsible for them. Our Spa is a place of comfort and serenity and we look after the silence and quietness of the area.

Thank you very much for your kind words regarding our service and we are also glad to know that you were satisfied with our breakfast buffet and bar.

Hoping you will give us another opportunity in the near future to show you the service and the distinctive quality of Meliá and Meliá Sancti Petri, and at this time, we hope to welcome you in hot season in order to enjoy our lovely outdoor pool.

Best Regards,
The Management

“Truely a palace in Andalucia”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2010

As written in their brochure, a palace in Andalusia, that's true. My friend and I booked it for a good price due to low season. After we had an impressive day and saw the wide gap between rich and poor in Tanger, Morocco, we could really enjoy "civilization" in Spain again, especially the elegance and comfort in this hotel. Nice architecture of hotel building, beautiful room with large bathroom. We had ordered dinner in room. What kind of room service we had! It's like in a nobel restuarant, (see pictures) And the food was of cause so delicious! Hm...

The balcony is large and comfortable. We sat on the balcony in the morning and enjoyed the silence and the view of the ocean. The most enjoyable thing is, there were not so many guests cause the peak season hasn't come yet. And the weather was already good enough for summer clothes. But the water was surely not warm enough for swimming.

If I go back to Andalucia, I will definitely stay in Meliá again .

“Very nice hotel - a great choice for the area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2010

We had a lovely stay at Melia. I had read previous comments which were quite negative. My husband and I are quite fussy and we were really pleased with our stay. The room was spacious and nicely decorated (quite contemporary - the bathroom was a bit outdated but that did not bother us since the room was lovely). It was bigger and looked nicer than on the photos. The rooms have good soundproofing. The swimming pool is very big and a real joy to swim in. The hotel common areas are very nice. The spa is free, but it is not that nice and it gets quite busy and loud. This could do with some improvements even if they have to charge separately for it. Breakfast was very nice and there was quite a lot of choice. Dinner is quite expensive though (especially the buffet option and the choice is quite limited), and so are drinks. But this is the same in any of these 5* hotels. We went to eat at the Iberostar next door which had a very good value buffet dinner with plenty of choice. The staff at Melia Sancti Petri were very helpful, particularly reception. We love the beach at La Barrosa. We then moved to Vincci in Marbella which is a more modern hotel for the last 2 days of our stay and we wished we had stayed at Melia instead. The hotel is peaceful and fairly quiet. We were very happy with this hotel and will definitely go back.

“Definitely not a 5 star luxury hotel!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 March 2010

All way to expensive for what you got!
The lunch was terrible.
A la carte diner was okay.
Buffet was also okay but not for € 50,- per person!
Nothing to see or do in the near area of the hotel... except for golf off course.

“Wonderful facilities”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2009

We cannot fault the facilities as regards there is a lovely swimming pool and great access to the beach.
The rooms are comfortable and spacious. The air conditioning did not seem to be very good.
The breakfast was good, but not very much choice if you are an english staying guest.
The hotel is very clean and particularly spacious in the courtyard and restaurants.
Our main gripe was the distinct lack of waiters particularly in the bars. We had to try and find a waiter a couple of times to come to the bar in order to serve us a drink. The measures of the drinks are a bit on the poor side.
But overall a very nice hotel, particularly restful out of season.
