“Good location, needs updating”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

The location is quite good just 50 metres from the beach, overall the place is quite clean the apartments do need to be overhauled but are quite nice. The whole area is very peaceful. The breakfast buffet is quite nice and there is a wide range of food which i think would satisfy just about anyone. The staff are very friendly and willing to help when asked. The pool is reasonably sized although at times there are not enough sunbeds. There are gardens all around the complex.
The aparments are a bit outdated but this to me is not a problem, ive come here five or six times in the past four years although in summer i do find it to e expensive compared to other places in the area. They do close over the autumn and winter as its really a summer complex with not much to do in the cold season.
I hope that thay do refurbish this complex as i find that its location and staff make a great destination as long as you are looking for peace, rest and plenty of sun

Room Tip: Rooms facing the pool are in my opnion the best.

“Low profile”

Poor and old fashioned facilities. Not your place if you are looking for a nice place to stay, but will do if you are into "pack your family for less" kind of experience.

Room Tip: If you choose to upgrade to a pool view room you might regret. It can be a noisy stay...

“Good location, nice beach, lots of children”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2011

Good location and very nice beach. I think it is good for families, we were just a couple and were overwhelmed by the amount of children.
Had fun though.

“It's a two-stars place. Quite basic and crumbling”

Really bad one. The rooms are full of ants and moscitoes. Old amenities. Hot water comes from a small boiler. Strong smell of chlorine in the room. No internet except for 3 archaic PCs at the reception and you have to pay a ridiculous fee.
a setback.

“Very Disappointing, apartment very poor standard.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2009

Having spent some time reviewing where to stay in the Costa de Luz we decided on the Sol Sancti Petri based on the reviews listed but were so disappointed with the apartment. The staff are all lovely and the place is very busy and from the outside it looks well kept. However the standard of the apartment we were allocated (Room 278 in Block 10) left a lot to be desired. Firstly it smelt damp on arrival, the place is old and looks it,wardrobes shabby, as is the bathroom but the kitchen/living area was the worst. Kitchen cabinet doors about to fall off, fridge has rusty shelves, two rings for cooking and only one pot and a pan, and finally ants crawling around the tap area. As we had travelled from Portugal (3.5 hours by car) we decided to stay the night and review things in the morning, however my husband could not sleep with the damp and ended up with a cold and sore throat and we just left the next morning although had planned to stay for 5 nights. Had booked through Hotels.com and was not a cheap deal however once we got the UK number they were helpful in organising the cancellation and refund. Parking is also a problem and they charge €10 per day for the underground hotel car park.

Would not recommend to anyone or return ever. It is listed as 2 star accomodation and was priced at the top end of this grade so our expectations were high. Most times this works out well - we have never had a problem with this standard for self catering before, however, this time the 2 star rating is over-generous.
