“Correspondant to 1 star hotel for quaslity, cleaning, food, etc.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2011

four stars Terrible hotel for the price. I paid 92 Euros for one night icnluding very poor breakfast buffet. Very old and poor quality furniture. Noisy and with problem to close window. TV set wireless control not working, animals in the room (a big cucaracha). It's a pity I didn't take a picture. Air conditioning not working at night, etc, etc, etc, ... I changed my room but result was the same.
The only valuable thing is the people working there.
I will never come again.

“Reasonable choice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2011

Nothing fancy about this hotel but I thought it represented good value .It`s somewhat uninspiringin its decor, quite functional, but it`s clean and located about 100m from the sea and on the main road into the heart of the old town and on the bus route, though the walk is only about 15 mins.
Our room had a sea view it was clean and comfortable.Room safe,mini-bar,tv with some English language news channels.
Shower room was en-suite but slightly odd in that the glass sliding door into it was a one way mirror but the wrong way round--in other words people outside the room could see in but the person in the bathroom couldn`t see out.Not sure if this was just a mistake by whoever fitted it or the people of Cadiz have strange predilections!I hope the former but it was certainly a little disconcerting using the toilet for example knowing you couldn`t see anyone(except yourself in the mirror) even though you were in plain sight to anyone in the room.
The hotel has secure car paking at a charge. It is genuinely secure though, not a public car park as often happens when hotels advertise car parking available.
Breakfast was taken in the large bar area.It was buffet style with a good selection. We also had a meal at the hotel on the patio, good for people watching and the food was pretty good at a fair price.
I would be happy to recommend.

“Clean, good service, questionable location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2011 via mobile

If you're coming to Cadiz to experience the old town and culture you may wish to look at other options as it is a long walk/short bus ride to get there.

Service and Rooms are spot on.

Enjoyed our stay here

“Lukewarm”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

The Barcelo did not leave any distinct impression. The hotel is well located, a couple of 100m from the ocean, and close to a bus stop (bus #1) which brings you into the old town in less than 10 minutes (buses go until well after midnight so returning is no concern). The hotel is clean, the junior suites are spacious but our room had no view to speak of. Reception was understaffed at times, which meant that our questions and requests for information did not always get the necessary attention. The Barcelo Cadiz seems to be passed on when Barcelo corporate budgets were distributed and could use some "poshing up".
Parking is accessed through a car elevator and is 20E/day. While expensive, this compares to the public parking nearby which charges 25E/day. You don't need a car anyway when in Cadiz as cars are "non grata" in the old town and parking spaces hard to find.
We found Cadiz to be a wonderfull town, lots of marvellous small streets, a very lively, vibrant atmosphere and seriously underrated compared to its more famous Andalusian sister Sevilla.
