“Surprising”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 April 2009

We selected this guesthouse purely on 2 criteria : it had to be in Cadiz and it had to be well rated on Trip Advisor. Surprise: it is not in Cadiz but in Medina-Sidonia, a charming and lovely little town on the top of a hill in the western andalusian country side, at ... over 40 km away from Cadiz. So for those who want to stay in the city of Cadiz, you should make another choice.
That said, we have been delighted by James and his kindness. Nothing to add, nothing to criticize. Lovely house, breakfast at your choice, large rooms, and sun deck. No TV but who cares in such a lovely place. Go and get tapas in one of the bars on the main square. People are lovely and even if you don't speak Spanish, you will always get what you need. That is Spain...

“Charming & lovely!”

We stayed at the Casa La Loba for 5 nights. There are three spacious and nicely decorated rooms, all situated around a Spanish style open patio. We had the small one (Toro) for a very reasonable EUR 75 per night, including a healthy & plentiful breakfast. There is a reading room on the main floor with many interesting books and a terrace on the roof for the guests. The owner & designer of Casa La Loba, James Barr, is a wonderful and very helpful host.

The Casa La Loba is in Medina-Sidonia, but unlike nearby Vejer (one of the gems of the pueblos blancos) it is a place where people actually live and work. Casa La Loba is ideally situated for visits to Cadiz and Jerez (30 minutes by car).

All in all Casa La Loba was our best stay in all of Andalucia & we definitely recommend it!

“Loved it. Great value for your money.”

I stayed at this little B&B with my girlfriend for two nights and everything was really really nice. We stayed in three other hotels during our trip and this was the best by far.

The house is very well decorated and our room and bathroom were very big and clean. Everything was perfect and James Barr, the man in charge, was great.

Medina Sidonia is a lovely town and the center is about a minute´s walk from the hotel.

I definitely recommend this place.

“Viva La Loba”

Casa La Loba is a gem of a place in the lovely hill top town of Medina Sedonia. On arriving you could be forgiven for thinking this was a small unassuming town house when you pull up outside but hidden behind the ordinary front door is a superbly renovated, designed and deceptively large property of first class quality and comfort. Built around a central courtyard its rooms are very comfortable and there is access to a roof terrace for a relaxing beer and great views all the way to the coast.

James is an excellent, sociable host, and provided valuable help with travel arrangements and local knowledge to ensure we got the most from our visit to the area. Guidance on the best bar to watch the Champions League final in were particularly welcome!!

Convenient for trips to Seville, Jerez and Cadiz we found it an excellent base to travel, but the town itself is well worth spending a few hours exploring in its own right. All round a great place to spend part of my 50th birthday holiday and we would definitely put this on our list of places to return to again.

“Again and again”

Once more we travelled to Andalucia and as in the past we spent 2 nights with James at his delightful B&B. It is an ideal centre for this part of the world.
This was our third visit and as rewarding as the others. Our bedroom was clean and fresh, a totally comfy bed with crispy linen and cotton towels. It was hot hot hot but our nights were cooled by the soothing ceiling fan which swished us to sleep.
A continental breakfast was taken in the charming terraced garden area - you can have cooked should you wish.
What is fun is to sit on the roof terrace enjoying the huge view before exploring the night life of the cafe/bar type in Medina.
I am sure that we will return.
