We were very pleasantly surprised by this hotel, and would recommend it to other travelers. The hotel's public spaces have a very lovely old world elegance. There is a lovely sitting room filled with books and equipped with a tv. The main atrium area is filled with plants, and even has an old well in the middle of it. We were told that parts of the hotel are older than the Mezquita!
Our room had lovely wooden furniture that was in keeping with the ambiance of the hotel as a whole. The bed was one of the more comfortable ones we slept in during our trip to Spain. The bathroom was quite spacious, and the water pressure was very good in the shower. Despite the fact that our room was right off the atrium and had a window to the alley next to the hotel, it was fairly quiet and peaceful. We also enjoyed the black-out curtains for the one morning we slept in.
The staff in the hotel were very helpful in offering dining suggestions, and information about the hammam and other sights/activities. One evening, we wanted to take a bottle of wine out to the nearby bridge, and the front desk attendant very kindly offered two glasses and a corkscrew for our little late night adventure.
The location of this hotel was excellent. It is directly across the street from the Mezquita, and within a short walk to the Jewish quarter, the Calle des flores, shopping and dining. The sights in the older part of Cordoba are all very close by, and the newer parts of town (with lots of shopping) are about 20 minutes walk.
The off-season price we got online was quite affordable, and was a really great value. A good deal of our "pleasant surprise" was based on the price, as we were not expecting this caliber of hotel for what we paid.
We did try breakfast in the cafe, and were not blown away. However, it is adequate for travelers in a pinch and is conveniently located for those who need to get up and get going without a lot of fuss.
This was a great hotel, and truly our favorite of the seven hotels we stayed in during our trip. Cordoba is the smallest town in the so-called 'golden triangle of Andalucia' (Sevilla-Granada-Cordoba), and definitely worth a stop. This hotel made our stay in this lovely little town all the more enjoyable.
Room Tip: We stayed in a ground floor room at the end of the atrium, and thought it was a very nice room
