A good place to stay, as long as you don’t get a room above the restaurant, as several other people have noted. The people at the reception area were especially helpful and friendly. This small guesthouse/hotel is down one of the town’s narrow little side streets, so not much street noise, but the tiled courtyard does tends to amplify any sounds, and the Spanish do stay up late. If you do too, you probably won’t even notice this. The location is very good – within walking distance to both the old quarter and Plaza de Tendillas, the main square of the modern part of town, and right around the corner from some ancient Roman columns.
We sprang for a superior room and I enjoyed the decoration and character of the place: the tile and wood floors and our French doors that opened onto the interior courtyard, also tiled and full of plants. Breakfast was quite tasty with plenty of variety in spite of not including any hot food. As is traditional in Spain, breakfast doesn’t start till late (9:00am) – a forewarning for those of us from countries that eat much earlier! : ) Our stay also included a free dinner at the Spanish/Mexican restaurant downstairs, El Escondite – it was a set menu of both Mexican and Spanish courses. I enjoyed it and service was good.
