“superb value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

This is a small comfortable hotel located in the heart of the shopping district, though not in the old town. The rooms are somewhat small with no view but are clean and comfortable and have a nice modern flair. The staff was tremendously helpful and very friendly. Considering we paid $76 for a room that included a very nice breakfast for two, it is an absolute steal at the price!

“Superb!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

What can we say about this hotel? It is simply superb! Great location. Great personnel. Great value. One bad comment though, our room was not cleaned! That was very disappointing. We didn't even have toilet paper in our bathroom at one stage. Besides the housekeeping flaw, its definitely a hotel we would go back to.

“Very good value and fast secured wifi”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

I stayed at Itaca Colon for one night during a road trip with friends in South of Spain. This was the lower price we payed for a room during our trip and still we were quite happy with the choice.
The room was not big, but this was sufficient. There was not a lot of outside light as we had a room on low floor. The comfort was good and I slept well. There was not a lot water pressure in the shower, but this was still ok.
Wifi was free, fast and secured, which is alway important for me. Staff was really nice and friendly. They made their best so that we have a nice stay :-) They also provided great recommendation to go out at night :-) Overall a good choice for the price we paid!

“Perfect for a day-trip to Córdoba!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 June 2011

Inexpensive and no-frills, but very comfy, this is the perfect little hotel to book a quite room if you make a day-trip to Córdoba from Madrid or Seville. It is quite difficult to find, but easy enough to get to from the train station. Just go straight down the Avenida de América from the train station’s main entrance. Turn right on Avenida del Gran Capitan. Just a block or so down, you’ll come across Alhakén II. Immediately then to your right again is a small, dead-end street which ends with the hotel. This hotel is located right next to a very nice and inexpensive bodega restauramnt which, one elderly Spanish gentleman informed us has the best jamón Ibérico in all of Spain! The staff at the front desk was very friendly and helpful.

One thing – we’re not sure if the room had air-conditioning. We couldn’t locate any discernable climate control switch on the walls. In any case, we slept with the window open and, this time of year, it was quite comfortable.

“good value and close to El Corte Ingles and shops”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2008

Looking to stay in a hotel for the night, and coming from the underground car park on Avenida de America (which is also not at all far from the rail/bus stations) I stumbled upon HOTEL COLON. It's off Alhakem II street near the Avenida del Gran Capitan.
the hotel reception was friendly and I was shown a room on the first floor. For the price (Euros 57 inclusive) for a double, I thought it was fair. perhaps the place was a little 'dated' but at least the staff seemed pleasant and the hotel would be good for exploring the city.
Was not disappointed and would stay again particularly if coming into Cordoba by train/bus and wanting to look around the shops.
Now I wish I took a picture but perhaps the next guest could do that and post it here ? There was a large bar just outside the hotel entrance that appeared very popular.
BTW they did have an internet on the ground floor which worked fine.

  • Liked — the cost and the location near the shops
  • Disliked — nothing really although am fairly easily pleased
