“sweet, small and not soundproof”

This was a sweet, well-priced hotel in what seemed to be a good location. However the room was tiny, though the bathroom very nice. Out of the tiny window we could hear a lot of noise from the street and a bar/restaurant next door. The Spanish eat very late and we tourists going to bed before midnight are not a good fit next door to a rousing bar/restaurant. Service was very nice.

“Less than Expected”

The Hotel was clean, relatively inexpensive, wonderful staf and had a great location.

I understand that each room is different so if you get a different room, you may have a different experience. Upon entering the Azacar room, my wife and I detected a terrible odor. After some searching, we found a box in the wardrobe of what we think was moth balls and some sort of herb potpouri, that almost made us sick. I think the room had not been used for sometime and the smell was almost overpowering, made worse because there were no outside windows. We did have a window which opened to the entryway and above the kitchen, so while we tried to air out the room, we heard each and every phone call or visitor greeting from the exceptionally friendly receptionist. After putting a plastic bag over the moth ball box, and several hours of open window and air fan running, the room was tolerable.

The room was well worn, furnished with older, cheap furniture, and dimly lit. The bathtub worked, but had several chips out of the porcellan. Hotel Lola reminded me of staying in a B&B. The bed was comfortable however. Somehow when I pay as much as I did there for a room, I expected pleasant or no smells and higher quality furnishing.

Breakfast was simple and good, although did not start until 8:30 am. The coffee was freshly brewed and tasted great.

Overall, not a bad experience, given the convienent location in the old town. But I'd chose another hotel if I go back to Cordoba.

“Horrible”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 March 2008

We booked a triple (in fact, double with extra bed), and I had been very clear on the fact that the extra bed was for a teenager, size of an adult, and that I wanted a room large enough for 3 beds.
We got the front room : noisy, dark, direct view on people's feet in the street), and the only extra bed that fitted into this small room was for a 6 years old child....... They really need to be honest on the level of service they can provide.

“Loved it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2007

Loved Hotel Lola. Stayed here with a friend in a twin room - think ours was Zuhara (or something similar - started with Z). Cute furnishings, good size room, overlooked the street. Street is busy during the day with tourists but gets quiet at night. There were 2 rooms on the ground floor which I would imagine are noisy but we were on the first floor. Staff are friendly. I would think it is hard to find on foot the first time We took a taxi from the train station and very glad we did. Located in a good area, everything is close by. Rooftop balcony is great. We sat up there late every afternoon with a bottle of wine and chatted and read. Definately stay at Lola if you are visiting Cordoba.
