“Facilities NOT available - bad location”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 April 2007

This hotel was a big disappointment.
Location is poor with a half an hour walk to centre. Room was incredibly noisy overlooking a very noisy road, with view of derelict building and gypsy site opposite. Restaurant was NOT available unless you were in a group. The 'bar' is actually a few stool in the reception area. Room service consists of a pizza take out being delivered. The room safe didnt work. There was no air conditioning and the room was too hot. Bathroom was nice however(!). It is too expensive and should be downgraded due to lack of facilities.

“Good but not 4 stars”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2006

Just came back from 3 nights at Ciudad Cordoba.

Location is not that great and not in the town centre, it will take you around 20-25 minutes to reach Mezquita and more than 30 minutes walk from down town.

However the bedroom are good. They are spacious and well clean. Furniture are quite new as the rest of the hotel. Air conditioning work very well and you need it because it is very hot other there !
But soundproofing is not that good, we were facing the front, right outside a busy road and we could here all the noise.

For a 4stars I was disapointed with the amenities provided. No tissue, neither a bar of soap but toothbrush and toothpaste were provided (something rare in nowadays)!

On the second night , it was raining a lot and decided to stay in and used the hotel's restaurant, but they could not accomodate us because they had a coach group ! So we had to order room service, which is actually calling an external pizza delivery (similar to Pizza Hut). Basicaly this hotel doesnt have a bar, neither a proper room service, and a restaurant who cannot take his own guest because they have coaches !

Definately not a 4 star service !

But hey the room are clean and pretty new, if thats what you looking for, go for it.

“Definitely not a place to stay for the view.”

The hotel itself is very new, with large rooms and all the usual creature comforts.

The problem, in my view, is its location. It's on one of the main roads into/out of Cordoba. This may make it easy to get to if driving, but it also means a good deal of road noise, and a view of some derelict showroom type buildings and advertising hoardings across the road.

The walk over the river, into the Jewish quarter/to La Mezquita is not all that long - perhaps 10 to 15 minutes - but it's not terribly pretty either. If you're coming from the bus/train stations, you'll want to take a taxi. It's too far to walk with luggage.

“big comfy rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2006

the hotel is situated away from the centre, about a 20 minute walk, but it is new, and the bed is huge, and the comfort level is high. I enjoyed the hotel, as I paid a bit more after generally staying in "hostales" in the rest of Spain, so I appreciated the extra luxury. Plus, Cordoba is the most beautiful city in Spain! loved it!

“Boxy but it sleeps good”

A rather square box of a hotel in an ugly area of town. The corridors are dark and uninviting. But the rooms are fine, bright, clean, comfortable and modern. And the airconditioning worked well. Rooms have minibar and safe. Front desk staff are friendly and helpful. Outdoor parking is cheap as is hotel internet connection. Ask for a room on the back if you have trouble with noise as the hotel is located on a main street. View is of the supermarket directly to the rear of the hotel, handy if you want to eat in your room at night. Walk to the old city was rather inconvient and ugly. Roman bridge was under construction while we were there so we had to cross on a busy motor traffic bridge. Hotel is good value for the price. Cordoba is a great town with many attractions -- the Mezquita is fabulous as are the gardens at the Alcazar. And the Viana Palace, with its 12 patios, is not to be missed. If I were to go back to Cordoba, though, I would stay somewhere closer to the sights.
